3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours dark golden, close to no head. Aroma is mostly around the flowers/pineapple notes of hops, but is somewhat faint. Taste is really a three stages thing : continuation of the floral hops with a rich malt/cereal backbone, then ester-induced sourness, then the bitterness kick, mostly in grapefruit variety. I can’t say that I really liked the bitterness developped by this one.
Pours a fair size of foamy white head and leaves a thin coat. Has a pretty clear golden appearance. Aromas of floral hops and grainy, bread malts and not much else. Flavours of mild citrus hops, mostly spices and resin hops, sweet malts, a slight hint of bananas and caramel. Fairly sweet. Somewhat excessive carbonation. Mouthfeel has a puckering, mouth-tingling sensation. Some bitterness on the palate. Also gives off a warming sensation. Not too bad, but would love to try on tap some day. radiomgb (2686) - Peterborough, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 27, 2016
341ml bottle. Clear golden in colour with a long lasting white head, good lacing. The aroma is of yeast, candy sweetness, tropical fruits. The flavour is yeasty with lemon citrus, bready malts, lost of candy sweetness, grassy. Bitter mouthfeel, medium body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long, some spice and yeast. I love these belgian ipa’s. The yeast and citrus in this are awesome. Lubiere (14240) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 3, 2016
As Cuvée Houblonnee II. A hazed amber ale with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with light honey notes, grassy resinous hops, light oxidation. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity caramel malt with light candy sugar, light curacao, coriander, light grassy resinous hops, light oxidation but overall, still pleasant. rejtable (2888) - Ontario, CANADA - FEB 25, 2013
Pours crystal clear light orange little head and no lacing. Nose is yeast and candy. Aromas of yeast, fruit, candy and some bread. Very light hop bitterness in the finish. Tastes are heavy medium sweet and light bitterness. Light body. Just ok. BiereLuc (1276) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 22, 2013
Levure très gomme baloune, alcool très présent, houblons bien dosés. Une bonne expérience qui se perd un peu dans l’équilibre du produit.

Bottle: Poured a clear amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of candy with some quite intense sweet notes and some light fruity hops notes. Taste is overly sweet with strong candy ester with light fruity tropical hops and light bitter finish. Body is full with good carbonation. Weird beer with hops profile dominated by candy-like ester and overly sweet finish. cfrancis (3612) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 23, 2012
Pours a crystal clear amber with a small white dusting. Aroma is belgian yeast and bready malts. Mixed in is orange and citrus hops. Taste is messed. You have the dry palate of the belgian yeast and bready malt profile that is clashing with the citrus hop that is trying to come out. Swing and a miss for me.sseb69 (1980) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 20, 2012

Pous a cloudy golden with a small frothy white top and good lacing. Aroma is a little off, perhaps a small infection, soapy and herbal with some citrus hops. Taste again is a little off, I don’t know if it was intended but slightly astringent, soapy and medicinal. Citrus hop bitterness is off balance and stinging to the palate with no sweetness of the malt coming through.
UPDATED: FEB 26, 2013 Bouteille 341 ml. 7.1%. Je me demande si c’est pas la même bière que la Cuvée Houblonnée III...? Couleur jaune or, claire, mousse blanche épaisse. Arôme de levure, épices, agrumes. En bouche, levure, agrumes et houblons...même un peu de gomme balloune !! Finale belge en levures, épices mais une légère amertume complète le tout. Bonne. Pours crystal-clear blond with low white head, fully diminishing. Aroma is of bananas, fruits, citrus, malt, yeast. Taste is of bananas, citrus, bitterness, yeast. Palate: Ligth body. Overall: Not sure about that yeast in an IPA. It’s original, but not the best of unions. Appearance is not good. Still, the beer drinks easily and does the job, so I would say this is decent. czar (9610) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 17, 2012
