60cl 2015 vntage, Ftex Ebeltoft. - Not all bad, local and locally-inspired English strong ale adding cane sugar, apple juice and the awareness of Doppelbock. Makes for quite a superficial, calvados-fumey lightbrown brew, forwarding neither apple, malt nor (quite bitter, not quite woodsy) hops, instead just seasonal 8%. Maybe slightly past its prime, if it had one.

Bottle, 50cl. Pours ruby red, warm golden with minimal light tan/off-white head. Sweetish and alcoholic aroma. Sugary, candy and alcohol of taste and mouthfeel. Flavour develops little acid and apples with moderate bitterness. Decent long finish of brown sugar, spices, dark fruits and more alcohol. Yeah, its a bit boozy. Medium-full bodied, oily texture with soft to average carbonation. Pretty standard strong ale.

Dark bread and applejuice on the aroma. Breakfast! Dark bread, malty and slight apple on the flavor as well. Very bland to be honest. Couldve been so much better.

60 cl bottle from Bilka, Denmark. Clear, nut golden body with a small light brown head. Rock sugar on the nose and also acetic hints or maybe apple cider vinegar. Tastes pungently sweet and feels full bodied and warming with a balancing and almost meaty bitterness. However the bitterness develops some of those papery tones that drag the overall impression down.

Bottle 600ml @ home
Pours clear copper with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, toast, some fruitiness and hint of alcohol. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light to medium bitter with a long slightly warm, sweet, caramel finish. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle. 8.0%. Best before 07.14. Pours a clear amber with a diminishing light tan/off-white head. Slight lacing. Aroma is tart, bordering sour, with cereals, fruit and a remote spicy note. Flavour is malty with dark fruits, and a light hop note in the background. A bit oxidised. Dryish, grainy finish with a lingering apple note. Meh. 26.02.14.

600 ml bottle, brought from Aarhus by my son Magnus, thanks! ABV is 8%. Clear deep golden to amber colour, moderate head, slightly off-white. Aroma of malts, caramel, brown sugar and apples, a hint of spices and vomit(!). Fruity flavour with notes of apples and malts, not too sweet, easy drinking for its strength. The bitterness is very moderate.
