At Proletariat tasting. Cloudy yellow pour with big ginger nose. The ginger and carrot seems in perfect proportion very present but not overpowering. Some pepperiness and tart apples as well. He claimed it as summer drink but I find it’d be good for fall.

Bottle at Proletariat. Pours a clear gold with not much of a white head. Soft ginger on the nose, carrot cubes through as well. Bright apples, soft acid. Lovely fine carbonation, gentle ginger and tart apple. Soft champagne yeast and a hint of musk. Really lovely. I don’t often take price into account in my ratings, but I’m dropping this 0.2 overall for being so damned expensive. Granted I had it at Proletariat, but it was $23 for a 375ml bottle. Even taking into account the bar markup, that’s just way too high for this cider. The other one was even more expensive ($35 for a 500ml).

jredmond (8445) - New York, New York, USA - JUL 26, 2013
Bottle shared with Clockwork and Linh. Pours a clear pale body with frothy white lacing. Aroma is dry spicy apples. Mouthfeel is medium, dry and grainy with notes of champgne yeast, spicy apples, vegetables and floral soap. Did not like this too much.

Bottle with JRedmond. Pours clear yellow with bubbly white head. Nose and taste of ginger root, peeled carrot, apple and sparkling cider/champagne. Lighter medium body.

Pricey little bottle from Murray’s cheese.
Chalice. Clear pale gold. Awesome nucleation point developed over some smidgen of floaties.

A slightly creamy apple scent, developing tropical notes thanks to the interesting additions. Very floral, soft, & sweet candied ginger. Green salad mix. Just a twinge of acidy white wine in the back.

Taste is dry, acidy apple wine & peppery, mellow green ginger. Disappointing white wine backwash. Old yeast & a lingering grainy finish. Tastes like old hops. Faintly carbed. Bit of heat. Not much tartness.

I thought the ginger/carrot was used well, but the cider just seemed tired. Can’t see myself trying it again at this price.
