2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
0,5l can purchased at Eurospar Tromsø. I was curious about this stout from Aass. First of all it is called a "Gourmet" stout (which sounds promising), and secondly you can buy it in the lokal supermarked. Although the name sounds promising, the beer doesn’t really live up to its name. Unlike many other stouts, the head on this one collapses almost immediately, but it does leave some nice lacings on the glass. The body is deep brown, nearly black. It has aromas of roasted malt, licorice, coffee beans, smoke and perhaps some dark chocolate. I can’t say I really care too much for the smoky aroma. Although these are some of the components you’d expect from a good stout (except the smokyness), it still tastes cheap.
Malty and caramel aroma with notes of chocolate. Dark without pellet. Fine short lasting white head. Medium sweetness and light-medium bitterness. A little chocolate in the after taste. Average carbonation with a medium body. Not much complexity but a fine super market stout. badgerben (5328) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - AUG 20, 2016
Can. Black color with a large head. Light grainy and metalic aroma. Very grainy flavor. Dry, powdery like the air in a filling grain silo. Very light roast. Seems stale, despite being a fresh can. aleksander9 (1898) - Oslo, NORWAY - JAN 18, 2016
Dark brown with tan head. Cherries, Strawberry jam, caramel and fruity coffee. Sweet, dry, crisp, and earthy finish. Overall: Lager/amber ale/stout hybrid. Interesting or identity crisis? Nonshaugen (662) - Fetsund, NORWAY - OCT 19, 2015
UPDATED: NOV 21, 2015 50 cl can. Very good looking, dark ruby to mahogany coloured beer, thin tan head, lively carbonation from the bottom. Smells like a porter, but is a bit on the light, faint side. Pleasant flavours of coffee, dark fruit(?), smoke, roasted malt. Aftertaste of dry, bitter chocolate. Reminds me more of a sweet porter or a dark mild rather than a stout. All in all, I think this is good value for money, I like it for what it is. Tip: try it with a bit of nutty milk chocolate, it’s interesting.

"Converting" from old excel scoresheet. So there is no comments on this beer.
Det må nevnes at denne ble kalt "Gourmet Stout" når eg kjøpte den, men tror dette må være det samme. Icedwarf (1804) - Etten-Leur, NETHERLANDS - JUL 16, 2015
Pours dark brown with ruby reflexes. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Taste is not impressive, rather sweet, warery, a bit of coffee on finish. metalspice (1083) - Jevnaker, NORWAY - APR 24, 2015
Nesten svart med tykt lysebrunt skum. Lukter knekkebrød og tørket frukt. en del fruktighet i smaken sammen med et klart maltpreg. Holmen2 (4037) - NORWAY - JAN 31, 2015
From can 31.01.15. Almost black. Dark beige head and lacing. Moderate aroma and taste of black malt, with a slight hint of dark caramel, coffee and vanilla. A bit waterish.
