Sweet, caramel aroma. Clean, crisp taste, and an almost dry aftertaste. Interesting and complex. Very flavorful with strong malt presence.

ABV 4.7 % in 2017.

Pretty pleasant, with a nice spicy maltiness. Leaves the tongue tingling...

Very soft soapy nose with a touch of crystal malt. Slightly spice and very soft on the palate that dissipates at the midpoint. Thin and oxidized finish.

Mørk brun farge. Aroma av noe sødme. Er veldig lettdrikkelig og får ikke noe særlig juleølfølelse av denne...

Dark red/brown color with a small off white head. Aroma of malt, caramel and dried fruit. Flavor of toasted malts, caramel and cherries.

Klart rødbrunt med fint skum. Lukten domineres av målt med en del ufriske toner. Smaken er av korn og karamell med en fin bitterhet mot slutten.

This was very good. It poured a medium brown color with an off-white head. The taste was malty with nots of caramel in the flavor. Finish was dry and I would recommend this beer as it is a nice change to so many hoppy holiday beers.

Bottled. This one didn’t really have anything going for it. Malt was overpowered any flavot it had.

espenra (1016) - Kurland, NORWAY - DEC 5, 2008
33cl bottle at Frognerseteren restaurant. It poured a red-brown colour with a small beige head that settled down fast in the glass. The aroma is sweet, tempting and smells of malts, yeast and raisins. The flavour is bittersweet and tastes of coffee and roasted malts. It has a short aftertaste. It is a decent christmas beer, but nothing outstanding.
