Sweet, caramel aroma. Clean, crisp taste, and an almost dry aftertaste. Interesting and complex. Very flavorful with strong malt presence.

gnoff (10426) - Mölndal, SWEDEN - NOV 30, 2006
(33 cl bottle thanks to KnutAlbert) Unpleasant skunk like scent. Clear red brown color, tan head. Grainy taste. Low bitterness. Spritzy and thin mouthfeel. Not good.

3fourths (9347) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - APR 5, 2003
Dark amber brown with a medium tan head. Smells of pine needles and malts. Taste is abrasive, like a floor wax with a pine needle scent. Very sharp, with flavors of raisens, mint, pine, and soap. Can't say I enjoyed this one at all.

gunnar (9096) - Sandnes, NORWAY - NOV 29, 2009
Bottled @ Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours light brown with a big white head. Sweet caramel aroma, taste is the same, mild, smooth and a distinct bitter finish, not bad.

Svesse (8601) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - NOV 7, 2009
(Bottle, Lorry, Oslo, 5 Nov 2009. 4.7%) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with caramel, toasty malt, red berries and hints of spicy hops. Malty taste with notes of caramel, red berries, dark fruit and slightly spicy hops in the finish. Some initial malt sweetness, dries out towards the end. Fairly thin but rather tasty.

Hansen (8595) - Assentoft, DENMARK - MAR 16, 2007
Dark brown and clear. Has a mostly lasting, off-white head. Lightly sweet, malty aroma, a bit roasted. Flavor has a metallic note.

Cunningham (7986) - Halden, NORWAY - FEB 27, 2012
Bottle. Amber colour with a tan head. Caramel nose with some fruity hints. Moderate sweet caramel and fruity flavour. One of few ok norwegian grocery store christmas beer.

PorterPounder (7970) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - DEC 27, 2002
Good, malty aroma - at first skunky - but it mellows and sort of grows on you. Kind of a thin pour with a light head. Detect a bit of chocolate undertones -reminds me of a schwarzbier as it has the taste of a stout but not the same heavy feel to them. All in a all a good solid beer.

Ernest (7697) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 26, 2003
Served at BJ's winter warmer fest, 2002 bottle. Body is dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted light bread, caramel, nutty), moderately hoppy (herbs, flowers), with notes of peach and orange. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic, lightly astringent. Very well-balanced and clean.

Finn (7547) - Tromsø, NORWAY - FEB 16, 2009
Dark red colored. A rapidly disappearing tanned head. Sweet malty aroma with some fruit. Flat sweet watery flavor. Some sweet bitter aftertaste.

larsga (7542) - Oslo, NORWAY - NOV 4, 2005
UPDATED: DEC 4, 2005 Medium, creamy, tan head with a spattering of larger bubbles; clear, dark winy red body. Sweet aroma of syrup, cinnamon, and some roast malts. Aroma is quite thick and satisfying. Roasty taste, with a dry finish, which lingers in the mouth, together with the roastiness. On further acquaintance, a bit watery. A good Christmas beer; could use a bit more sharpness, but a good effort. Certainly better than expected. (0.33l bottle.)
