Vienna? Didn't seem to "Vienna" to me. Nice nose, very woody and malty with residual spiciness. Has the usual caramel malts, but they're quite good here.

Served at BJ's winter warmer fest, 2002 bottle. Body is dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted light bread, caramel, nutty), moderately hoppy (herbs, flowers), with notes of peach and orange. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic, lightly astringent. Very well-balanced and clean.

This was very good. It poured a medium brown color with an off-white head. The taste was malty with nots of caramel in the flavor. Finish was dry and I would recommend this beer as it is a nice change to so many hoppy holiday beers.

This was a decent beer, but didn't make me think of a Vienna. Sweet on the tongue and almost wood like. Not their best.

larsga (7675) - Oslo, NORWAY - NOV 4, 2005
UPDATED: DEC 4, 2005 Medium, creamy, tan head with a spattering of larger bubbles; clear, dark winy red body. Sweet aroma of syrup, cinnamon, and some roast malts. Aroma is quite thick and satisfying. Roasty taste, with a dry finish, which lingers in the mouth, together with the roastiness. On further acquaintance, a bit watery. A good Christmas beer; could use a bit more sharpness, but a good effort. Certainly better than expected. (0.33l bottle.)

The smell certainly doesn't give away the taste. I thought the beer would be more bitter, but I was pleasantly surprised.

very complex taste, smooth and very malty. The hints of spices in this one are very interesting indeed, a good surprise to your tastebuds!!!
