Big thanks to Rune for this one. Almost clear deep red - amber beer, small cream colour head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. A plummy fruity caramel with a mild tang. Mild ripe fruits. Light semi dry finish. Hides the abv well and it’s quite entertaining.
(Best before date 8 Sept 2018 - so presumably bottled 8 Sept 2016).
Medium dark coffee colour, with a small foam head which does not last long.
Nose: Quite complex malt nose, with caramel, dark sugar syrup and hints of baking spices.
Taste: Rich carbonation, slightly sweet arrival, then a potpourri of Christmas and baking spices, all very elegantly balanced towards the other taste elements. Vinous in a very fresh and fruity way, with a nice freshness of taste. The exit is again more malty and spicy. The aftertaste continues this topic, closing with the first noticeable traces of hops, combined with some malty sweetness.
This is is very well made and an almost perfectly balanced Christmas beer! But because of the elegance and relative lightness (medium bodied) it is easy to overlook these qualities at the first encounter. Take some time with this one and discover its slightly hidden beauty!
