A wonderful surprise from Aass. Brown color, full body, caramel sweetness with some bitterness and a hint of sour. By far the best Norwegian christmas beer I tasted in 2011, and hopefully a sign that the large breweries are finally taking up the challenge from the micro brewers. Dark ruby, beige head. Aroma of nuts, dried fruits, red apple, coffee and dark cholocate.Filling.taste of fruits, caramel and dark chocolate. Medium long aftertaste. Well balanced. yngwie (17053) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - DEC 30, 2008
Bottle. Immediately after popping the cap, a heavy aroma of malty sweetness, some roasted malt and dried fruits escapes the bottle. It pours a nice ruby copper body, clear, with a small, firm beige head. Prunes, sultana raisins, dark grapes, caramel and some alcohol fill in the blanks in the aroma. It’s quite effervescent, full-bodied and with a pleasant warmth from the alcohol. The flavor has roasted malt, raisins and prunes, fruity and slightly piney hops and some alcohol. As the beers warms up, some mocha occurs. The finish has a nice lasting bitterness to balance the sweetness. A quite complex beer that is in the same league as Julebokk from their competitor Ringnes. It’s maybe a bit evident on the higher alcohols, but really pleasant and works nicely as a by-the-fire beer, or with some nuts and a slice of cheese. Don’t let it get too warm, as some notes of cooked vegetables then shows up. (081212) Holmen1 (5889) - Stavanger, NORWAY - NOV 15, 2012
Inbreak (6068) - Loddefjord, NORWAY - DEC 1, 2013

Big creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly rich and balanced, caramel malts, dried dark fruits, nuts, malt candy, butterscotch, grass, hints of coffee, chocolate and licorice. Taste is slightly sweet and oxidized, caramel malts, grass, nuts, butterscotch, malt candy, dried dark fruits, coffee. Medium bitterness. Nice one, a lot better aged for a year than fresh.
UPDATED: DEC 19, 2013 2012, stored for 1 year. Dark red-brown color, light brown head. Dried fruit nose, caramel, burnt sugar and spice. Sweet, caramel taste which is in nice balance with the bitterness. Medium body, medium carbonation, warming alcohol. metalspice (971) - Jevnaker, NORWAY - DEC 31, 2014
Rødbrunt med fint lysbrunt skum. Lukt av banan, sjokolade og noe krydder. Smaker tørket frukt, sjokolade og ingefær. God munnfølelse hvor alkoholen er fint integrert. Outstanding til multekremen. Sigmund (7534) - Tau, NORWAY - NOV 27, 2008
330 ml bottle, ABV is 9%. A strong top fermented Yule/Christmas beer from Aass, nice. Very dark brown colour, creamy and lasting tan head. Pleasant aroma of dark malts, caramel, brown sugar and oak, hints of Christmas spices. Full and rich mouthfeel. The flavour is malty sweet with loads of caramel, also notes of chocolate, to some degree balanced by acceptable hops. A decent barleywine, will go better with fruitcake and nuts than the traditional Norwegian Yule/Christmas dinner.

04.02.2009, 0,33l Bottle. Very strong and powerful beer. Aroma is malty, roasted and sweet with caramel and spisdes. The alcohol content (9%abv) also gives the beer a nice strength. There is also some bitternes. Very nice.
