COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abbaye des Rocs (9% alcohol vol.) is a pure malt beer, with no added sugar. The entire range of tastes is directly linked to the double fermentation, the precise quantities of malts (7 types) as well as the mixtures of three kinds of hops (Belgian, German and Czech). Its colour is a striking deep and majestic red. Its taste is rich and full of subtlety. It is tasted like a red wine with which it shares the ruby colour without having the tannin. It develops a strong sweet smell. It confirms the initial impression in the first mouthful, with a sharp body that is balanced with a certain fruitiness. It frees itself on the palate and develops an impressive depth of taste. Some traces of burnt wood are detectable, but never scorched even if it contains this kind of malt. The foretaste is very prolonged because of its rich and unctuous development throughout the mouth. The bitter and sugar tendencies (even though there is no sugar in its composition) compete and come back together to the taster's great satisfaction. It is a deep, mystic and extremely mature beer to be classed among the great products of our soil.

Robe ambrée rousse claire, mousse blanc cassé bien calibrée, aérée et moyennement persistante. Bullage moyen. Carbonatation assez vive. Brune gourmande et complexe, mais terriblement buvable. Rondeur exceptionnelle.

Bottled @many places, somewhere in time from the early belgian years.
In short: robust belgian ale.
Pours hazy dark amber-copper with frothy light tan head. Long head retention, some lacing. Roasty, caramel, bready, dried fruits, raisins, yeasty nose. Medium body, average carbonation, some crispy texture. Taste is boozy, sweet, roasty, spicy, Remember it as a good one.

Aroma maltoso. Amaderada, licorica, cuerpo pronuciado, carbonatacion alta . Trago corto. Una buena triple brune belga, aunque durilla de beber

Bottle. Deep brown to red, medium tan head, very sparkling. Aroma of malts, grain, hazelnuts, touch of chocolate, light roasty, sugar cane, figues. Taste is light to moderate sweet, with just a touch of bittery on tongue, very fruity; heavy malty background. Medium to heavy body, lively carbonation, slick texture.

Regusto y postgusto suave a dark fruits y pasas. Otra delicia proveniente de Bélgica. No me canso de este elevadísimo nivel.

Bottle from Beergium. Aroma is dark malt, caramel, toffee, raisins, spices, yeast, sweet dried dark fruits, touch of nuts. Flavour is sweet and lightly bitter. Body is above medium. Quite good, very smooth and balanced, complex aroma. Lots of caramel toffee, yeast, dark fruits. Surprisingly good, almost gives Abt 12 a run for its money, I dare say it’s more easily drinkable.

A bottle from l’Apero, drunk at home. Aroma: vegetables, but sweet, not unpleasant. Appearance: hazy, brown minimal lacing. Palate: full-bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Long, well-balanced finish. Taste: sweet and malty, well-balanced, good beer.

Sample, but i bought some bottles. Will re-rate once tasted again. Redish brown with a big off white head. lively carbonation. Caramel, dark fruit, nuts?, yeast and a hint of roastyness in the aroma. Taste is mostly sweet but somehow not too sweet. Alcohol is well hidden. Very complex
