COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abbaye des Rocs (9% alcohol vol.) is a pure malt beer, with no added sugar. The entire range of tastes is directly linked to the double fermentation, the precise quantities of malts (7 types) as well as the mixtures of three kinds of hops (Belgian, German and Czech). Its colour is a striking deep and majestic red. Its taste is rich and full of subtlety. It is tasted like a red wine with which it shares the ruby colour without having the tannin. It develops a strong sweet smell. It confirms the initial impression in the first mouthful, with a sharp body that is balanced with a certain fruitiness. It frees itself on the palate and develops an impressive depth of taste. Some traces of burnt wood are detectable, but never scorched even if it contains this kind of malt. The foretaste is very prolonged because of its rich and unctuous development throughout the mouth. The bitter and sugar tendencies (even though there is no sugar in its composition) compete and come back together to the taster's great satisfaction. It is a deep, mystic and extremely mature beer to be classed among the great products of our soil.

Not quite as good as the gran cru, but the flavors keep coming as the beer nears room tempurature. I LOVE the belgians. Re-rate. Ruby brown color. Gurgling foamy head. Strong aroma of tangerines and tart green apples sifting through the olfactory senses. Smell of orange blossums pouring out of the glass like a mad scientist's concoction. Delicate sweet malt and wild flower honey conjoined with citric hop flavors embrace the tongue. Lace slowly drools down the side of the glass rejoining the compact screen of bubbles floating on top of this malt elixer. Smell of Bayer's children's aspirin peering in. Wafts of raisins, plumbs, dates, and kiwi complement a subtle peppery mango flavor. Candy sweet taste left on the lips. Banana and nectarines in the nose and on the tongue as this nears room temp. Buttery walnut finish casually evolves into a citric sensation devoid of bitterness, leaving a soft warming alcohol sensation. WAY under-rated.

Jabic (701) - Plainfield, Vermont, USA - NOV 17, 2017
Ar: Lean cherry leathers, vanilla, cocoa, and peach; rounded, rich caramel, sweet and oozy. Ap: Chestnut brown and hazy; medium-small very light mocha creme head with low retention, leaving a half-moon of medium bubbles, a thin remaining edge ring, and a fine haze layer. T: Slight sherry; caramel, bread crust, and spiced rum; cotton candy and overripe peach; medium-low sweetness; bitterness is medium and fairly clean, with a black pepper and black currant hop flavor; toast, vanilla, and a little bitterness on the finish. P: Medium body with high carbonation; very smooth and silky, but on the edge of sharply carbonated. O: A really tasty Belgian brown ale; lots of spice, fruit, and complexity overall; nice mouthfeel, rich and decadent yet very drinkable.

This beers owe its peculiarity to its creation 7 malt of different type and three hops of country dispute. It draws at 9 °, its color is that of a dark ruby, with slightly pale notes. Once in the mouth, you will have a strong impression of bitterness, with very strong hints of sweet aroma, which is quite incredible, because it is made without sugar. You will also feel burning wood. It is eaten as one can taste a red wine of grand cru.

UPDATED: NOV 3, 2017 1. 11. 2017, Ljubljana. Bottled. Very present and sharp aroma. Taste is totally more to the sweet side, almost no hops was sensed by me at all. Fullbodied, med to high carb. Mouthfeel is very prickly. Good, but not the best.

bottiglia 33 cl, schiuma fine color cappuccino media persistenza, color marrone intenso, al naso malto marsala frutta candita zucchero di canna, in bocca malto caramello toffee uvetta liquirizia lieve tostato, carbonatazione piatta, corpo strutturato, oleosa liquorosa, alcool perfettamente bilanciato, amaro percettibile che svanisce con l’elevata dolcezza finale. Sembra di bere un passito. Ottima birra 14.10.17
