4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: FEB 26, 2005 (Re-rate, 0.33l bottle) Very nice, deep, dark red color with a large head and lots of big yeast particles on the bottom. Extremely malty, sweetish and toffeeish, raisiny, rye-pudding aroma, even sweet-imperial-stoutish and port-wineous. The flavor is extremely malty, sweetish, almond-liqueourish, quite bitter-hoppy. Port-wineous, liqueourish - but pleasantly so, full of rye-pudding and spices (orange peel, licorice, etc.), plus a hefty fruitiness. The palate is quite full-bodied, warming, somewhat foamy-carbonated and sweet - but bitter. Some alcohol can be felt, but it’s definitely not dominating the flavor. An excellent, full-bodied, yeasty, very malty and tasty brew. Succeeds nicely in combining scotch ale, abbey dubbel and imperial stout. This must be the brew to die for, if well aged!
(0,75l bottle, was 6-4-7-4-14=3.5) Nice, murky, dark amber color with medium head. Sour, slightly sweet aroma. Quite alcoholic, sweetish flavor. Soft and full-bodied palate. A good brew for/with dessert, but a slight disappointment considering what I had read from others.
Sunday, August 6, 2017. Bottle 330 ml. Bought at Belgium in a Box in Antwerpen. Served in Trappist glass. I am very impressed by this beer. The taste is very fruity and complex. Reminds me a lot of Rochefort Trappistes 8 and 10.

Vynikající belgické silné ale pivo, kterému nejde co vytknout. Vynikající chuť s tóny oříšků, nasládlé karamelové aroma a krémová jemná pěna. rob19a (381) - - JUL 24, 2017
16/20 tastes amazing, easily one of the best Belgium beers I've had. Only negative was the huge amount of floaters in the beer which was a bit off putting

s a rich mahogany from a bottle, creamy off-white head made of incredibly small bubbles. Aroma is of sweet sherry soaked wood, flavor is a rich malty syrup, again some sherry, some newly split green hardwood, a hint of molasses. Good beer.

, Copenhagen (01/07/2017) - dark amber reddish pour with off-white head. Aroma and taste is sweet malty with notes of caramel, treacle, brown sugar, some dark dried fruit shred, yeasty, nice spices into the close. Lovely.
Bottle (750ml) Dark reddish brown with thin tan head. Medium plus carbonation Dark fruit, very malty, maybe some chocholate. A Little wine. PowY (797) - AUSTRIA - JUN 8, 2017
330 ml bottle. Pours a dark copper with a yellowish beige, quickly disappearing head. The aroma is very lightly yeasty (dough), bready, beeswax,, some faint herbal hop notes and also settled notes of fermented pears. Full body with a low carbonation, a medium sweetness and a light bitterness. The alcohol is very well integrated. The taste is very malty, caramel, honey, brown sugar, meaty, hints of overripe fruits, but the sweetness is perfectly balanced by a nice hop presence (again with a somewhat generic herbal hop bitterness, bitters). Finishes with a light pleasant alcoholic warming. Overall complex and very smooth to drink - a really good beer. Leini (2076) - SWEDEN - MAY 27, 2017
Dark copper-ish body with a low head. Caramel, figs, yeast, spices. Well made.
