33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 28.08.2012
Bottle starts to foam after opening and mixes up all the yeast – a very typical opening ceremony for this brewery.
Aroma has ripe fruits and toffee typical to an aged belgian ale. Flavour has ripe, dark fruits, apricot, licorice, some anise and spice. Nice and rich.

Robe brune aux reflets roux, claire, presque limpide. Mousse moyenne beige huileuse, laiteuse, mouvante. Tenue moyenne.

Seems a common problem with these bottles that they rocket out and you lose half of it on the side. It’s a decent seasonal Belgian ale, but lacks a bit of the depth of taste that the best of the style have. A bit to frothy too. Good overall though.

Bottle from the Grumpy Goat, Reading. Dark brown with a beige head and a light fizz. Up front there's the (to me) unpleasant foam banana sweets taste that characterizes so many Belgian brews; fortunately here it's offset by a decent brown bread maltiness. On a second swig the banana sweets are left behind as other flavours rush in one after the other; coriander seed, chocolate, ginger, raisins, dark brown sugar, malt loaf, prunes, leather and figs. It's sweet, very spicy and lightly dry. A delicious, decadent and interesting brew that goes a little way to restoring by long-departed faith in Belgian brews. Nice one.

I would have enjoyed this beer more if it hadn't gushed half the bottle all over my shirt, laptop, and living room. Apart from that, it's a decent Belgian tripel.

Bottle, 330ml. Practically exploded when opened. A cloudy brown colour with a small head. Aroma of sweet berries and malt. Flavor has more sweet berries, tones of malt, yeast, alcohol quite evident. Some herbal and citrus notes in the finish. Very drinkable.

Bottle. Terrible gusher! Pours hazy dark red to brown with small tan head. Aroma of dried fruits, plums, figs, grapes and light spices. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter, of dried fruits, plums, figs, grapes, apricots, spices, light caramel, with a fruity finish. Medium body, lively carbonation (quite fizzy before pouring). Tasty, but overcarbonated.

Ysok02 (1910) - Mons, BELGIUM - DEC 23, 2017
Robe brune claire, fine mousse crémeuse, persistante.

julesxxl (126) - Cholet, FRANCE - DEC 19, 2017
(grave dépôtée, nez langoureux prune, cannelle, girofle, calva, orange macérée, bouche suave, alcool-miel, levure)
