3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
I made a recent visit to the brewpub in Abita Springs and had this on-tap along with a cask doppelbock and satsuma wit. This was served in a pint glass instead of a goblet, but I rarely get proper glassware anywhere. Had a nice aroma of dark fruit. Taste was similar to the aroma. Little carbonation, head, or lacing, and mouthfeel was correct for the style. Hid the alcohol fairly well. Good beer.
Pours a nice cola colored brown. Aromas of malts, fruit, and a touch of spice. Has flavors of chocolate, caramel, and a touch of wood. Kinda thin in the finish. ByTheirLimpin (321) - New York, USA - JAN 23, 2016
From a bomber. Amber with a fine bubbled foam head. Mouth feel is lacking, but the profile is right. Thick and sweet. Lips are sticky after the first few swallows. theOptimator (385) - Sacramento, California, USA - DEC 17, 2015
Aroma is rich sweet malt. Appearance is medium brown clear with medium off white frothy head. Taste is deep malt sweetness, bread crust, plum, minerally, bit of hop bitterness and roast. Palate is medium full. Sweetness lingers. Overall a nice dubbel. Deep malt flavor works, but more complexity would make this better. Not my favorite style, always wishing the dubbel just went the extra mile and became a quad.... but still a nice dubbel. tysongillmore (362) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - NOV 21, 2015
I didn't take any extra notes when I tried this beer for the first time but I'm gonna try it again and update my comments.

Found at wal mart in foley, AL.Very nice light brown color. Aroma is malty and a little fruity. Flavor follows with a yeast character. Smooth medium body. Creamy texture. bnwokedi89 (106) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - NOV 21, 2014
Nutty flavored beer with a strong almost smokey-like aroma. Deep auburn caramel color with limited clarity. Very cloudy appearance but not as deep colored as a Guinness. Medium carbonation with zero head at the top of the beer. Deliciously smooth finish that invites a second sip. Abita Abbey Ale is worth a try!

This ones pretty good. NIce sweet aroma and taste. The color is really nice as well. I’ve had this a bunch of times on tap and in the bottle and it’s aways been pretty solid. It has a really good bready sweet taste which makes it easy to drink. Overall good stuff. madchemist83 (272) - USA - OCT 15, 2014
Aromas of dried fruit, bread and toffee. It gets a little lost in the carbonation. Copper with off white head. Same notes in the taste. Some spice as well.
