Taster at the <a href=/events-detail.asp?eventID=3891>Balmoral Brewhaha. Got to this pretty late in the evening, while I was pouring. So my notes are a bit sketchy. Couldn’t gather too much of the smell, only that it was a fine "beer" character. Taste turned out to be rather yeasty, surprising for a beer that I would presume to have been pasteurized and carbonated… or is it? Still, some fine dark roasty malts and a contrasting German hop profile make this a solid example of the style.
Pours a mostly clear orangish coppery color with off-white head. Caramel malt, cereal grain, bread, and some light sweet notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with a nice malt bill. gripweed57 (2590) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - MAR 2, 2017
12 ounce bottle. Amber orange color capped by a moderate sized foamy white head. Malty nose has hints of buttery caramel and toasted grain. First sip is toasted malt and nuts. Sweet malty middle, like 12 grain bread and honey. Subtle spicy hop finish. Nejhleader (1559) - Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 1, 2017

Draught at Blue Stallion. Dark amber orange in color with malty nose and a lot of caramel. oobawa (1500) - Tennessee, USA - FEB 27, 2017
Buttery and weak, with a mildew nose and noticeably slack carbonation. Tastes mildly sweet, with a corn and caramel undertone rubbing up against toast and nothing, leading to a modest Brit-hop fade. Not good.

Pours a copper golden with a creamy, antique white head. Bubble gum and sweet citrus nose. Hearty mouthfeel. Flavors follow the nose faithfully. Decent all around beer, especially for long Mardi Gras parades. rollinsr (774) - Atlanta, GEORGIA - FEB 3, 2017
Pours clear amber with minimal head. Aroma is yeast esters with hints of malt sweetness. Flavor carries some sweetness to it with notes of apple.

Shared 12 oz. bottle. As Abita Mardi Gras Bock. Hazy pale amber with an off-white head. Aroma and taste of malt, caramel, and bread. Fairly mild. Decent. darbeer75 (911) - Round Rock, Texas, USA - AUG 2, 2016
Aroma: malty and bready; Appearance: light amber, cloudy, with thin white head; Taste: starts with maltiness of Turbodog but ends with cereal-like, almost pilsner taste; Palate: medium body with long, sweet/cereal finish; Overall: okay for Abita; might drink again if available.
