The newest Abita brew takes its name and inspiration from the Mardi Gras Indians of New Orleans. Looking for Indians on Mardi Gras Day is a tradition for many New Orleans families. A cultural phenomenon familiar to residents of the Crescent City, the Mardi Gras Indians are not well known to outsiders and Abita is proud to help share their story with the world.

12-oz. bottle into a pint glass at my house on Nov. 7, 2012 (purchased at World Market in La Mesa (San Diego, Calif.) for $1.99 on Nov. 7, 2012). Caramel amber with two fingers of frothy white head. Good foamy retention on the sides and good on the top as well. Smelled Cascade or Columbus hops (Im usually pretty bad at knowing which hops are which). Also got sweet floral noted and a bit of dark fruit. Some caramel late and even some rye or iced tea notes. Tasted as a toned down version of the smell. Not as much Cascade hops and got more citrus than I thought I would. Still got that sweet dark fruit taste like the smell. Some pale notes as well. Light-to-medium body. Thin texture. Soft (below average) carbonation. Abrupt and slightly bitter finish. Finished this beer pretty fast, but Im not sure what that means. Overall it was pretty good but I wasnt completely sold on the feel/palate. A couple of the ratings could have gone either way.

Originally rated on 12/29/08. Jockamo pours a copper body with average carbonation, very little lace. Aroma was nice... at first, sweet floral aroma that got a tiny bit funky as it warmed. Flavor was o.k. but it pretty much just bitter. Overall it was better than i expected but its a little above average IPA.

Pours with an amber-brown colour and a frizzy head. The taste is good but not so hoppy, not a real IPA. An average beer.

Great reddish brown color.. not much head. Smell is a bit malt heavy, but not offputting. Taste is above average.. more APA than IPA.

Bottiglia 35 cl. Bel colore color ambra, schiuma fine e persistente.

From a bottle. Pretty much what you would expect, well made IPA with a huge hop punch and resin finish. Good stuff.

Aroma: fruity and slightly hoppy; Appearance: dark amber with pillow head that dissipates fairly quickly; nice lacing; Taste: faintly piney and grapefruity; almost wouldnt know its an IPA unless you told me; Palate: medium body with medium bitter finish; Overall: smooth, drinkable and completely unremarkable; would not buy again unless deeply discounted.
