Somehow, I didn’t know this was going to be a fruit beer until I bought it and poured it. My first clue was the color, definitely a light purple tint and (surprise surprise!) a little bit of hazyness. It tastes like berry-berry kix, the kid’s cereal. I’m not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. The raspberries weren’t overpowering like the Kiriek Lambic I had a while ago, but there also wasn’t much flavor overall beyond the raspberry. So, I guess, the jury is still out on this one. If fruit beer is your thing you’ll probably enjoy this one.

Ice tea or beer? That’s the question. Nice raspberry flavor, but where is the beer? Hardly any sign of the wheat. Nice to drink if you aren’t looking for a beer.

Pours medium yellow with thin off white to pink head. Definitely has raspberries in the aroma, but low on the wheat character. Flavor also low on the wheat. Raspberry is nice and subtle, but there is also an off flavor as well. Not that good, but you could do much worse.

this is a thin beer, no wheat flavor with very little raspberriness to it. There are so many better fruit beers out there. find them

I really like this beer. Purple Haze is nothing too special, but for what it is, this is an exeptional beer. It is perfect drinking when you want a beer with a fruit flavor, but nothing overpowering. I am not a fan of fruit beers, so I was surprised when I liked it.

eh, definitely unique. though i am not sure i like this stuff. can’t describe it, just don’t know.

RedBurn (11) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - APR 12, 2005
The aroma was enticing, but it belied the rather shallow flavor. Good appearance. Smooth finish, again, not as fruity as the aroma would lead one to believe.

A little too sweet for me, seemed artificial, not terrible, but wish it was more tart, not so sweet, I’d drink it again, but wouldn’t seek it out.

Partially clear golden with a quickly fading white head. Aroma of grain and raspberry. Flavor is water with a backdrop of grain and raspberry. Only moderately sweet, couldn’t detect any bitterness really. Body is watery and thin with lively carbonation. Not good.

scraff (2121) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - APR 1, 2005
Hazy golden pinkish, thin off white / pinkish head. Nose was tart raspberry, light citrus and wheat. Flavor was similar with light sweet tart raspberry notes and wheat up front, then followed closely by small does of back end bitterness. Light bodied and watery, soft carbonation, drying wheaty, fruity finish. Nuff said....
