COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ripe, red Louisiana strawberries are harvested at the peak of the season in the early morning chill. The scent of the juicy red Ponchatoula berries fills the air as they’re picked and pressed for Abita Strawberry Harvest Lager. The end result is a light, crisp lager with just a hint of strawberry sweetness.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is sweet fruity and light herbal. Sweet and citric flavoured with a distinct strawberry flavour from back of the tongue. Smooth candy fruity - yet subdued sweetness. Ends with a lingering strawberry fruity finish. Not bad.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of MaltOMeal. Pours yellow with a slight haze and a white head. Aroma of strawberry bonbons. Light body, very distinct strawbery accents, appears sweet but is in fact quite dry. A whiff of something peachy and citrusy as well. Finish is mainly dry with hardly any bitterness. 221109

17th August 2008. Pale gold and very slightly hazy. Crisp and a little dry. Dominated by a mild strawberry flavour (like strawberry flavoured sweets). A wishy washy lagerish finish.

Bottle. Pours a light gold with a crisp, bubbly white head. Huge strawberry aroma with notes of wheat. Light strawberry in the flavor with slight bitterness. I would have liked a bit more sweetness. Finish is overly bitter it seems. Overall not bad.

A: The pour is a hazy golden color with a small white head and a lot of fizz. S: At least the strawberry aroma is not disgustingly fake. Definitely somewhat artificial and sugary, but it does have a nice fruit quality to it. Underneath that, a bit of corn bread. T: Surprisingly good flavor, too. Best way to describe this is cornbread with strawberry jam on it. Nicely sweet, but I could see it getting cloying after drinking more than a few ounces of it. M: Light to medium in body with a medium to high carbonation. O: I was expecting a disaster. Luckily, this wasn’t too shabby.

bhensonb (15189) - Woodland, California, USA - OCT 17, 2008
Bottle from Sun Devil in Mesa, AZ. Golden color with a creamy white head. Truly smells like strawberries. Near medium body with creamy carbonation. First rush made me think of homemade strawberry ice cream ( haven’t had that for a number of decades!). Downhill from there, but it’s still a good drink - probably for around the pool - once every other week or so. Brave Abita.

Ratman197 (14826) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - APR 4, 2010
Bottle poured a clear gold with a lasting white head. Aromas of strawberry, white bread, light honey and a hint of citrus. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of strawberry, white bread and a hint of citrus with a crisp dry strawberry finish.
