COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Abita Turbodog is a dark brown ale brewed with Willamette hops and a combination of British pale, crystal and chocolate malts. This combination gives Turbodog its rich body and color and a sweet chocolate-toffee like flavor.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a dark burgundy color with great clarity given its shade. I like its head - a three finger light tan color with nice retention, and excellent texturing. Even after a while, it still remains a half finger high, leaving very nice, thick lacing down the side of the glass. S: Toasted caramel malts and chocolate. Very faint in general - theres nothing wrong with it per se, but its so aromatically boring. T: Again, not really flawed, but so damn mild and even watery. Chocolaty sweetness to start, a candylike midtaste, with a vaguely toasted finish. And thats about it. I can chug it, at least. M: Clean, damn near bone dry, and thin. This makes it super easy to drink, but the watery factor detracts some. Good carbonation. O: The ultimate in inoffensive beer. Theres nothing bad or good here - really, it just exists in the market place like white bread exists in a grocery store. And money no object, would you rather have white bread or the artisanal 9-grain stuff? Thought so.

Poured from a bottle, Texarkana. Malty aroma that smells a bit sour, not in a good way. It really does smell a bit like a wet dog. Taste isnt much better. I dont care for the look of it, either. It tastes and smells like it was made from real, quality beer-making ingredients -- not rice or corn -- but thats all I really have to say that is nice about this beer. The mouthfeel is good and the aftertaste isnt bad. I actually havent had many brown ales so maybe this isnt my style. I dislike Newcastle.

Brownish ruby appearance, nice aroma, light/medium hops flavor. A decent enough beer, although I drank it from a bottle that wasnt properly stored and not fresh. Not bad, but really nothing noteworthy.

This is by far the worst beer Ive ever had and Im from Louisiana which is where abita is made so I love them, but I have to say they were way off on this one. I would like to make a note that it is probably called turbodog because it literally taste like beef jerky dog treats. It even smells like beef jerky. If you eat beef jerky frequently please buy this beer at least one bottle at a bar smell it and then taste it and think of beef jerky and that is exactly what you will get. Im sorry but liquid beef jerky does not appeal to me so Im going to have to say this is by far the worst beer I have ever had and Ive had some bad beer

Bottle at home. Pours ruby brown, tan head. Aroma is malty and sweet, a little cloying. Nice, even roast character, not as sweet as the aroma would suggest. Mild hop bitterness. Alcohol on the finish. Smooth mouthfeel. Medium carbonation. Very pleasant, easy-drinking brown.

Appearance: Brown-red body with a thick tan head that sticks to the sides of my glass. Smell: Caramel, some sour notes, berries. Taste: Sour cherries, some wood (oak?) and wheat. Has a distinct though quiet metallic finish. I also taste berries, dried not fresh. Mouthfeel: Low carbonation with an average body and a touch thin. Not uncomfortable but it doesnt have that smoothness that i like

Dark brown but ruby red in the light, dense tan head. Aroma of toffee. Clearn and malty roast and burnt caramel flavour. Medium to full bodied, creamy, a hint of chocolate. Not overwhelming, nice and warming to drink.
