I poured this beer from the bottle, noticing a deep, almost opaque reddish-brown color and a modest beige head that settles to a thin film of foam. The aroma is initially has rich, caramel sweetness, but the wonderful sweetness somehow seemed to evaporate with the head and faded to little more than a dull combination of mild lactose-like sweetness, some musty hops, and an afternote of dry cocoa. The flavor is marginally better but still sadly bland, with a light, sweet blend of milk chocolate and a mildest noticeable toffee character, although each characteristic seems to develop nicely as the beer warms. The texture is good enough, with a nice medium body that is lightened by a fine carbonation. Overall, although certainly drinkable, the superficial flavor profile leaves much to be desired.

UPDATED: AUG 16, 2017 Middle of the road brown. Molasses, chocolate, caramel, touch of coffee. Tad thin and minerally. Decent enough.

*Bottle from Schneiders Getränke, Köln. Dark malts, molasses, still refreshing. Nice brown Ale with hints of roasted hazelnuts, round malts and a nice but smooth bitter hoppy ending. Easy to drink, deep with a full malty fruity roasted body, nice.

UPDATED: AUG 10, 2017 Poured from bottle into pint glass. Very dark brown. Chocolate and coffee are the primary flavors you get from this, as expected. Solid brown, but nothing amazing.

Bottle. Pours dark brown. Aroma is strong milky chocolate and toffee, chocolate sauce. Body is rather light and thin, with a strong carbonation and almost no flavours anymore. Disappointing!

From tap at ADT. Clear reddish-brown with a froth beige head. Nose is heavy malt with hints of chocolate. Flavors are lightly roasted malt and milk chocolate, with some bread notes. Smooth texture. Semi-sweet chocolate finish.

12 oz bottle pours a ruby brown color with moderate beige head and some lacing. Aroma is toffee, roasted malts, and dog biscuits. Taste is sweet and malty. Body is medium with a creamy mouthfeel and average carbonation. Ho hum.

12floz bottle, $1.50 unit price, BBD: 08.13.2017. Poured in a rinsed nonic glass. It’s brown with bright red hues and a solid head. The appearance is good, the aroma is what I remember from a decade ago, molasses and dry dog food. Tastes better than it it smells. A roasty, toffee brown ale heavy on the malts, but flat on the palate. So-so for a brown ale, good enough is not always enough.

Bottle from Lupe Pinto. Appearance - black olive sheen. Lovely off white head. Nose - honeycomb and chocolate. A dark chocolate Crunchie bar. Taste - caramel and chocolate with a biscuit back drop. Dry malty finish. Palate - close to medium bodied with a crunchy texture. Dry finish. Overall - decent.
