COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A pale, strong, fruity, hoppy Trappist ale from one of Belgium’s six official abbey breweries. Achel 8° is hard to find even in Belgium; in the U.S. it’s up there with the rarest of beers. This blond, flavorful beer is a surprisingly refreshing brew at 8% alcohol by volume. It is lightly filtered, but still wholesomely hazy with yeast remaining and refermenting in the bottle.

Orange towards amber. Aroma spicy with fruit and yeast, typical of tripels. High in carbonation. Taste has citrus, spice and some plum. Medium sweetness, well balanced with the bitterness that dominates at the end.

UPDATED: SEP 25, 2017 Piwo wysoko wysycone.

.33l bottle poured a slight cloudy amber to golden beer. High carbonation, thick frothy head with nice persistence. Nose is grainy and yeasty, hints of lemon and malt. Taste is well balanced, subtle sweet taste and slight bitter aftertaste. A slightly sour and fruity finish aswell. Palate is nice, mouthfeel is medium thick and crispy. High carbonation is not unpleasant. Great abbey blonde!

Achel 8 Blond pours a beautiful hazy amber color and sports, along with its bruin cousin, the most beautiful, frothy, long-lived head I’ve ever seen, which leaves amazingly beautiful lacing behind. The dense and beautiful bouquet brings ripe citrus fruits, biscuit, bouquet and good old Belgian yeast to mind. The attack features creamy biscuit and a hint of honey and the subsequent mid-palate is subtly sweet, spicy and complex with floral notes as well as notes of banana and vanilla, which stay well into the lightly acidic finish, in which the alcohol and bitterness are noticeable but subtle. The lively carbonation creates a beautiful display of bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass to the top and becoming part of the alluring head. This sophisticated brew has all the complexity one can ask for, yet it is very easy to drink. I love this stuff.

Bottle, 0.33l. Clear deep golden color with thin soapy off-white head and sparkling appearance. Aroma of dried fruit, caramel, yeast and alcohol. Taste starts medium sweet and sour grainy, following is yeasty, fruity and grassy with toasted malt note, mouthfeel is crisp, dry and spicy, while finish is mild bitter. Full body, thick texture and lively carbonation in palate. Not bad, but I just miss superb quality...

330ml Bottle: Pours a clear golden with frothy white head. Retains well with lacing. Aromas of honey and lemon. Flavours include lemon, bubblegum with a slight spicy note. Bitterness is medium, body is medium, carbonation is fizzy at first but mellows out. Overall a great and complex beer that was very enjoyable.

A very agreeable Blond. Lemony and sweet on the nose, with some hint of clove. Dry and grassy. those typical Belgian yeast notes. Becomes more sweet after a while, bit like dates. The taste full and sweet, but also refreshing. Slightly bitter Hints of citrus, like orange. Gorgeous mouthfeel, quite good. The finish is long, medium dry and slightly bitter. A very good brew, for a very good price as well.

Clear deep golden color with off-white head. Aroma has floral yeast notes with hay and some bubblegum. Taste follows with yeast flavor, sweet malt and wheat, overall quite balanced though. Medium body with high effervescence, not overly dry. Overall it’s a really well made, classic Belgian ale with a well hidden ABV.
