COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A pale, strong, fruity, hoppy Trappist ale from one of Belgium’s six official abbey breweries. Achel 8° is hard to find even in Belgium; in the U.S. it’s up there with the rarest of beers. This blond, flavorful beer is a surprisingly refreshing brew at 8% alcohol by volume. It is lightly filtered, but still wholesomely hazy with yeast remaining and refermenting in the bottle.

Bottle. Hazy yellow to golden colour, large white head. Aroma of banana, bubblegum, apricot, orange, yeast, spice. Taste is medium- sweet and light+ bitter, banana, apricot, lemon, yeast, spice. Mild bitter spicy finish. Medium body, average to lively carbonation. Very solid and tasty.

A beautiful, intense, trasparent orange that gets a bit hazy on second pour. At most two fingers of white head, good enough retention and almost no lacing. Aroma is mainly candied fruit notes, with honey sweetness, flowery notes and the slightest spiciness. Taste follows the aroma closely, with malt sweetness (honey) and sugary hints, flowery notes, candied fruit and a bit of spiciness. Overall very sweet but not at all over the top, with a not at all disturbing bit of warming alcohol presence. Medium bodied with quite high carbonation, maybe a bit too burpy. Overall an enjoyable belgian strong, it just didn't impress me in any way. Kind of 'just' averagely good.

UPDATED: OCT 15, 2017 Birra color oro. Schiuma bianca mediamente fine e persistente. Al naso sentori di fruttati, miele e crosta di pane. Al palato mediamente corposa con note di frutta gialla, caramello e miele. Nel finale poco amara, che si lascia bere facilmente nonostante gli 8 gradi. Un' ottima birra.

Among my favorite Trappists. Nicely understated with its very unassuming label, this is one flavorful, complex, yet very well balanced composition. Flavors of yeast, grain, fruit and a gentle bitterness correspond extremely well. Brilliant.

Very strong belgian ale. Little head. Beautiful color. Very sparkling. Palate is nice but the aftertaste goes away a bit fast. Drinkable.

cloudy dark yellow with light head. fruity sweet, light cherries...dry finish. Solid blond ale, and easy going down for an 8-percenter.
