A pale, strong, fruity, hoppy Trappist ale from one of Belgiums six official abbey breweries. Achel 8 is hard to find even in Belgium; in the U.S. its up there with the rarest of beers. This blond, flavorful beer is a surprisingly refreshing brew at 8% alcohol by volume. It is lightly filtered, but still wholesomely hazy with yeast remaining and refermenting in the bottle.

Golden yellow with good head and sticky lace. Lemon and yeast aroma with some sweet fruit. Sweet fruity, yeasty flavor. Mild hops add some bitterness and slight alcohol adds warmth. Carbonation is above average. Very nice and different from other Trappists I have enjoyed. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Kolor z?oty. Piana bia?a, nie jest ani wysoka ani trwala. Aromat: s?odowo??, bia?e owoce, dro?d?e. W tle delikatna kwa?no??. Smak jest dok?adna kopi? aromatu, s?odowo??, bia?e winogrona, dro?d?e, pieprz plus akcenty zio?owe i ziemiste. Piwo jest delikatnie kwa?ne i nieco wytrawne. Goryczka sucha zio?owa. Alkohol schowany idealnie. Wysycenie wysokie.

0,33l bottle. Cloudy orange colour with long lasting small white head. Aroma: Honey, floral notes with citrusy, almost pine like caracters. Very sophisticated. Taste: Sweet and very fruity start with lots of malty tone. Has a light bitter mouthfeel. Quite complex but in a very sophisticated way. Medium body with soft carbonation. Long very light and pleasent bitter finish. A very good and sophisticated beer.

Had this one many times before, sometimes I like it a lot, sometimes - like now - I find it quite dull. Time to rate. 33cl bottle from Delhaize. Pours slightly hazy golden blonde with clear white foam that doesnt last. Aroma is slightly hoppy and slightly malty (cara), pils-like character, a bit metallic even so nothing special. Nothing much going in the mouth, typical strong Blonde ale from our country, no special yeast flavour. If this was a 6,5 or lower % beer it would get much more points because then it would be the ideal ale to drink the whole night like pils without giving a sh*t about taste.

33cl 2016 vintage enjoyed as apritif whilst toiling in the kitchen with homemade garnalenkroketten... - Dry, hop-forward and earthy Belgian blond ale with fitting yeast medium complexity, leafy continental hops (dried nettle, pepper, lemon rind) and a great dry pale malt biscuit base. Fruitiness is dialed down as a malt backbone: yellow apple, forest honey on cracker, orange marmelade. Rightly characterised as Belgian Strong Ale, not tripel as it refrains from the yeast-powered phenolics and esters, instead offering straight-up dried lemon rind, orange and honeyed cracker. Great appetiser for that, no slickness to the palate whatsoever. Among the more up-to-date dry trappist ales to discover for hoplovers this side of IPA (cf. Westvleteren 6, De Dolle Arabier, De la Senne Jambe-de-Bois).
