COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A pale, strong, fruity, hoppy Trappist ale from one of Belgiums six official abbey breweries. Achel 8 is hard to find even in Belgium; in the U.S. its up there with the rarest of beers. This blond, flavorful beer is a surprisingly refreshing brew at 8% alcohol by volume. It is lightly filtered, but still wholesomely hazy with yeast remaining and refermenting in the bottle.

Ar: rosy alcohol with peppery spice, plus orange peel and ripe peaches. Ap: Cloudy gold with a billowing white head with great retention that leaves a wall of lacing - streaming cascades of small bubbles run up the glass. T: Tart orange with a clean maltiness and ripe melons, slight peachy note - some moderate rosy alcohol mixes with citrus mid-palate - peppery finish with a medium bitterness. P: Full creamy high carbonation - fills the palate and finishes extremely dry and tingly. O: Disclaimer: This is one of my top 5 Belgian beers - I could drink this beer every day, and I very will might do so if I had the access and the $ - it has the complexity, in terms of ester, spice, and alcohol profile, of the best triples - yet, at the same time, it is exceptionally (and dangerously) quaffable and dry in the spirit of great saisons.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy light blonde with a decent tight white head. Nose is amazing! Like ripe bananas, confection and memories of being ill as a child. Some kind of childrens medicine scent. The taste lives up to the smell too, bubbles flow easily across the tongue, releasing banana, fresh bread, raisins, slight vanilla and its all rounded off with a nice light fruity palate and a touch of alcohol.

hazy golden colour, moderate white head; aroma of yeast and fruits; well ballanced sweetness and hoppy bitterness with citrus notes and well hidden, though present alcohol; significant carbonation; really great trappist ale

Beautiful and well balanced trappist beer, Achel is one of my favourites and can be tasted alone for a refreshing and tasty drink as well as along with a meal.

Slightly hazy deep orange appearance, strong and lasting head. Malty, yeasty and spicy aromas, well well rounded taste and palate. One of the best beers around.

Bottle @ Le Poechenellekelder in Brussels. Pours golden with a dense white head. Hoppy aroma. Bready, fruity, some sweetness and a dry bitter finish. Well balanced. An excellent blonde. Paired well with tte presse and cheese!

Bottle. Yeasty notes on the nose, with hints of banana, clove, fruity, citrus. Some bready malts. Cloudy golden, with big nice white head. Also yeasty on the palate, with honeylike tones of fruity malt. No hops, but nice and dry. Medium/high carbonation, still silky and nice mouthfeel. A very nice Belgian Blonde!

330 ml bottle in Germany Pours a cloudy orange with a thick long lasting beige head. Lots of carbonation in this one. There is a lot of spice in the aroma and yeast in the taste, I believe there is also some fruit in there but I would not hazard a guess at what it is. Palate is very smooth for this type of beer. Very well done!

Koelschtrinker (18349) - Kln (Cologne), GERMANY - JUL 4, 2011
Test vom 3.9.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 13,14,13,13,10,14 - 13,40
