malibrat (191) - Pula, CROATIA - JAN 14, 2018

Gradazione alcolica ben nascosta dagli altri sapori. Una buona trappista.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2018 Suszone owoce, ciasteczka, karmel, nieco przypraw. Alkohol bardzo dobrze ukryty. Średnio pełne, niezbyt słodkie, ciut kwaskowe. Wysokie wysycenie, niska goryczka. Bardzo poprawne, lecz jednocześnie takie grzeczne, mało intensywne.

UPDATED: DEC 29, 2017 28-12-2017; bottle; at home (bought at beerwulf.com, part of their Sinterklaas box 2017). The looks of the beer are nice. It is not as dark as some bruin beers can be. The colour of the beer is a lovely ruby red. The beer has a beautiful ruby glow. The beer seems to be crystal clear. On top of the beer a nice layer of light brown soft foam is formed. Foam retention is average. A nice drape is left after some time, so is some lacing on the glass. Not bad. The smell of the beer is rather weak. I smell some typical malt aroma's, that are present in a lot of Trappist beers. They have some nice aromas of caramel, toffee and some candy sugar and syrup. Hops give some spicy notes, but all is not to strong. The taste of the beer is nice. Nice sweet malts, with caramel, toffee and a touch of liquorice. The hops give some nice bitters, earthy and spicy. Yeast gives a creamy touch, but also a slight sour note, bringing balance to the beer. Nice. The palate of the beer is fine. Medium-full body, smooth and slightly creamy texture and medium carbonation. The finish of the beer is nice. It has some alcohol in it, just as some sweet malts and a hint of plum and raisin. All in all, a nice beer. I like it.

Fles gedeeld met LiekevdV. Het is een lichtbruin bier met weinig schuim. Het aroma is een beetje moutig. De smaak is moutig en licht gebrand.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2017 Appearance: Pours hazy reddish brown with creamy off-white head, no lacing. 3/5 Aroma: Caramel, dark fruits, roasted malt, yeast and spice, with some alcoholic notes. 6/10 Taste: Malt, brown sugar, raisin, banana, caramel, toffee and chocolate. Nice balance between fruitiness, maltiness and alcohol, rather drinkable. Can be drunk with little of the yeast poured across, but better with more yeast, as it balance the taste positively. Warming spicy fruity finish, lingering. 8/10 Mouthfeel: Mediun to Full bodied, creamy, carbonation is low. 4/5 Overall 16/20

panda_brewmaster (229) - Bournemouth, Dorset, ENGLAND - DEC 9, 2017
UPDATED: DEC 9, 2017 Aromas of yeast, overripe banana, cola, dried cherries, some alcohol. Taste is the same plus some subtle dark chocolate and slight sourness. Balanced bitter-sweet and a bit sour in the dry finish.

330ml bottle @ Merckx, Bridgnorth. Surprised I've not rated this before. Pours a deep hazy brown, small pale tan head. Aroma is pleasantly sweet, ripened dark fruits. Taste presents a smooth, moderately sweet dubbel, just enough spice, just enough ripened fruits, nicely balanced. Voila.
