Pours clear deep mahogany with tall off-white head. Aroma of nuts, dried fruit, brown sugar, mild herbs. Taste is mellow herbal and spicy up front followed by a raisin sweet lingering finish, some lingering herbal notes as well. Light to medium bodied and smooth with soft carbonation.

Bottle at home. One of the best authentic Trappist style beers out there. I would say, for me at least, this is better than Westmalle Dubbel. I like everything from the carbonation, to the imense aroma and spot on belgian flavours. Definitely a character I have grown to adore.

Clear brown pour with a small tan head. Yeast, roasted malts, bread, biscuits, caramel and burnt sugar, dried fruits for aroma. Balanced mild taste of sweet, sour and bitter with a nice little warming sensation at the end. Medium body with medium carbonation. One of the classics, one of the greats.

Bottle from Mercator Hipermarket. Good drinkability, ok aroma levels, somewhat too little depth in aroma and taste for a brune though.

33cl bottle at home. Appearance: slightly hazy chestnut brown with medium off-white head. Aroma: sweet malts, dried apricot, dust, slight banana and grains. Taste: high sweetness and medium bitterness. Notes of brown sugar, banana, grains, yeast and a trace of peach and tea. Palate: medium bodied, watery texture and lively carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Mahongin värinen lasissa. Tuoksu hiivainen ja taatelinen. Maussa hedelmää ja hiivaa edelleen. Suutuntuma tasainen ja keskitäyteläinen. Kohtalainen hapotus.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2017 Dejlig belgisk øl. Balance mellem det bitre, det søde og smagen af gær og malt.

At times one is fortunate, located Achel 8 Bruin in Santa Fe with a number of other hard to find beers. My Rochefort Trappistes glass receives half of the 11.2 oz bottle. It serves up a dark amber-brown liquid and an eggshell white head with steady carbonation. The nose is rather pleasant, yeast, spun sugar, grain. A sip delivers yellow fruit, yeast again, bread, green apple and an unexpected lingering bitterness. A great, late afternoon treat. Now for that other half.
