Pours a hazy burgundy brown with big off white head and good lacing. Aromas of dried dark fruit and some apple, Belgian yeast and some spiciness. Flavors of dark fruits with brown sugar sweetness and some mild spice and yeastiness. Finish has a hint of apple tartness. High carbonation that helps give the beer a medium-full mouthfeel. Finishes somewhat sweet but still fairly dry. Nice Trappist dubbel. ---Jeremy H

Wow, hadnt rated this. Been awhile. Will it be good or will it be "achel" of its former self? Zing. Ill be here all night. Spoiler alert: Its good. Deep clear reddish amber with a lasting one-finger beige head. Really a beaut. The aroma is trappist yeast, nuts, red currant, prune. The flavor is nice, dry with a touch of candi sugar sweetness, crisp, light bitter finish, yeasty. Medium-bodied, well carbonated and lively on the feel. Really solid one from the trapperoonies.

Pours reddish brown from the bottle and leaves a creamy finger-thick head. Aroma is caramel, lightly yeasty, alcohol. Taste is bittersweet, yet metallic, with hints of banana, spice, and chocolate. Leaves behind an overall rough, unclean impression with a clear delineation between the alcohol and other flavors rather than a harmonious blend. Yeast, alcohol and aluminum in the finish. Body is medium and the carbonation is adequate. Quite drinkable, but also quite disappointing.

In my opinion, it is an average brown beer. I bought this bottle at Amstein. I drank it at Bonfol. The body is a beautiful deep brown color, white foam, average carbonation. The taste is dry, bready, malt, side of sugar or grape, but it is discreet, you feel that the alcohol is present, a little metalic.
