COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Huge, copper-colored, bottle-conditioned ale, still hot off the presses, Achel Trappist Extra is the latest from the tiny brewery at the St. Benedictus Abbey at Achel, in the Northeast of Belgium. At this year's World Beer Championships in Chicago, the Extra was easily the best of the many Trappist beers tasted, scoring 97 points and an "Exceptional" rating. You will find this a very satisfying beer, with just a little malt sweetness, dried fruit flavors, warm sherry notes, and a brisk balancing backdrop of fresh hop bitterness.

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2018 Butelka 0.75l. Warka October 2019. Kolor ciemno bursztynowy, brązowy. Wysoka, drobnopecherzykowa piana zostawiająca laicing. Aromat raczej klasyczny, belgijskie drożdże, slodowy. Średnio wysycone, ale nie drażniąco. Alkohol dobrze ukryty. W smaku dużo karmelu, słodycz, słodkie owoce, śliwka, ale nie ulepek czy syrop. Raczej lekkie w konsystencji. Lekko kwaskowy finisz, wiśniowy. Bardzo pijalne. Fajne piwo.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2017 Appearance: Pours hazy dark brown with lasting creamy off-white head, with phat lacing and dead yeast clumps. 5/5 Aroma: Rather sweet caramelish, dark fruits, roasted malt, yeast and spice, with a touch of alcoholic. 7/10 Taste: Roasted malt, brown sugar, raisin, prune, dark fruits, caramel, spice and yeast, with some underlying alcohol. Toasty palate, fairly yeasty as well. Roasted caramelish maltiness balanced the fruity spicy flavour from the yeast. Similar to Achel 8 Bruin, not complex, easy to drink despite it's heavy. Bittersweet spicy caramelish finish, lingering. 8/10 Mouthfeel: Oily, rich, full bodied, carbonation is medium. 4/5 Overall 12/20
