Cask @ Dada, Sheffield. A couple of locals swore at the barman when they saw this beer on tap. The rivalry runs deep up here! (that, or those guys are twats). The pour’s deep amber with a small head. The nose is pretty subdued. A bit of caramel, some pastry. Notes of red fruits and a bit of nut. The taste is similarly pedestrian. A bit of caramel, shaggy leaf tobacco, some spicy hop bitterness. Soft carbonation. Smooth and as easy to drink as water. Overall, quite forgettable stuff. It’s a shame, as Acorn make some really great traditional beer. jamesie1857 (2151) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - MAR 9, 2013
500ml bottle - deep red body, thick white head, lacing quite well thank you. Mild malty nose, not very heavy, little fruit. Well rounded body, thick oily texture in the mouthfeel, but a little flat in the taste. A bitter ending, but nothing in the taste or aroma to make me want to go back for more. Acorn do much better than this. Very ordinary.
