On cask at the Watford Beer Festival, pours a dark cola color with a loose tan head. The smell is dark roast malt, fruit, chocolate. The taste follows the smell... It is light/medium in body with fine, mild carbonation. jercraigs (10303) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 14, 2015
2015-09-26. Very dark brown-black body with a nice creamy tan head. 4+ Aroma is mild, soft dusty roast, very lightly nutty hints. Flavour is relatively mild, soft dry roast malt. Lightly sweet dusty cocoa. Very smooth average plus bodied palate, soft carbonation is very good for cask. 3+ Enjoyable but it’s closer to a Guinness than a North American IS. Cask at Hedley Verity, Leeds. FatPhil (15961) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - SEP 13, 2015

Quoth Anna: Dark with mahogany tints. Aroma is chocolate and something close to tarry, very dark. Maybe a bit flatbut has a nice zing and a hint of liquorice in the finish. Quoth Phil: Agreed, but I put more liquorice in the aroma, and more chocolate in the taste. Very full, smooth sweet palate. Sweetish, but the caramel very nice.
Easy drinking stout quickly dissipating off white head some subtle liquorice hints and tobacco roastiness some sweetness to finish Towey1989 (2695) - Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - APR 28, 2015
Cask at The Brewery Tap Ale House, Chester. A deep brown to black colour with a medium tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, a little soy sauce and tobacco. Taste of roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice, smoke and some plum flavours. Full bodied and soft carbonation. A good roasted bitterness in the finish. A decent example of a strong stout, nice roasted, chocolate flavours, a nice pint.

On cask @ Cloisters.
Appearance - close to opaque black with a decent tan head.
Nose - roast and smoke. Maybe charcoal.
Taste - more of the charcoal and some chocolate in there though there is a slight astringency on the finish.
Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly nice dry finish, though as I mention slightly too astringent to go looking for a second.
Overall - decent stout. allmyvinyl (10480) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - APR 14, 2015
