Adelardus abbey beer is the youngest descendant of our beers. This dark brown beer was made for the open house days of the abbey. Adelardus was one of the most important abbots for the abbey of Trudo and the city Sint-Truiden. He built the tower and rebuilded the existing church into one of the most monumental churches of that time. The ingredients are: brewing liqour, malt, yeast, hop, candy and sweet gale. Sweet gale is a mixture of ten spices from the region, which gives the beer his typical flavour. The alcohol content of this abbey beer is 7 % vol.alc.

From notes. On draft at Moeder Lambic Original on November 11. The pour is a nice dark brown with some dark ruby shining through in the light. There is a thick tan head with a bit of light lace left behind. The aroma is full of dark fruits and a brighter, sweet maltiness. There is also a hint of nuttiness that I wasnt expecting to find either. The flavor is a little more traditional. The dark fruits and malts blend together well. There is a hint of yeastiness and a light metallic offering from the malts. The mouth feel is a little light and well carbonated with a lingeringly sweet fruitiness. Its a surprisingly good beer.

Draught at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Pours rich brown with a large, frothy beige head, long retention with excellent "Belgian" lacing. Aroma is heavy bready and nutty malt, light caramel malt notes, dark fruits, nutmeg and a soft earthiness. Flavor is heavy dark bready malt, nutty and caramel malt notes with dark fruits, light spicy hops and bitterness, moderate melanoidin character with a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

Aroma is sweet, barrel, candy, yeast, mostly sweet, pretty basic. Appearance is reddish brown, hazy, light light brown head. Taste is not good. Woody, sugar, pear, dark fruit, booze, terrible. Mouthfeel is light to medium body, light carbonation, sweet dark fruit wood aftertaste. Overall, this is pretty fucking bad.
