THE ALE: This smooth ale tastes citrusy with yeasty notes and a hint of peppery spice. Its dry finish and mild carbonation make it perfect for pairing with grilled chicken, rich fish dishes, and cheeses like camembert and brie. THE STORY: Philosophizer was a common term used to describe Del. He often came up with the perfect solution to a complex problem while drinking a beer and watching the sunset. Don’t be surprised when you enter into deep philosophical debates after opening a Philosophizer. Just pop one open, pour, sip, and ponder.

It’s almost there and the ratings just reflect that. Saison seems to be a temperamental style that’s tough to get just right. Hopefully this brewery will try again.

Bright. Yeasty. Spice. Banana. Cloudy light orange amber with a thick foamy white head that settles quickly to about a quarter inch layer with some spots of foam left on the glass. Dry. Citrus. Yeast. Clove. And something like an aspririn finish. I wouldn’t call this a saison at all. It’s more like a Tripel. And it’s pretty good until the finish and then it’s bad.

I love the way it looks, it's aroma is lacking. Has a nice substance with a touch of candied malt and sugar. Decent ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The aroma is yeasty grassy and malty. The appearance is right for the style as is the palate. The taste is like the aroma. Overall this is fine.

iguanodon (162) - Bountiful, Utah, USA - MAY 17, 2016
Draft at Austin Ale House, Austin, TX. Hazy orange gold with little head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, funky. Taste is a bit sweet for a saison but it’s 8.5%. Spicy, a little black pepper and clove. Decent saison.

SG111 (2142) - New York, USA - MAR 26, 2016
Tap at Austin Ale House, Austin, TX. Pours deep orange, clear, very, pretty. Aroma is Belgian esters and sugar, clove. Flavor is sugar, Belgian esters, it’s a fairly standard Belgian ale.

oldrtybastrd (5228) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - NOV 27, 2015
Pours a dark golden yellow with fizzy head. Aromas of light malt, yeast, a touch of sweetness. Flavors of spice, hay, grass...a little sweetness. More tripel than saison.

radagast83 (8624) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - JUN 16, 2015
Split a 750ml bottle. Poured a dark yellow color with a fluffy white head. Aroma was spices, lots of citrus, light pepper notes. Light white pepper, citrus, light toasted malt notes. Pretty tasty.

lownote (585) - Austin, Alabama, USA - JUN 13, 2015
Nice citrus aeoma. Pours hazy orange into a tulip from tap. Taste is really crisp, dry, and fresh. Lots of herbal flavors, some citrus. Pepper.

swoopjones (7020) - Buffalo, New York, USA - APR 30, 2015
fuller bodied orange golden pour. citrusy, floral. light herbal & dpice notes. decent saison IMO & one i would have no problem having a second time

glennmastrange (2940) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - APR 17, 2015
Bottle. Grainy malts, lemony hops and dough for the yeast, with pepper in the background. Color is large, frothy, white with good lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is medium hazy amber. Flavor starts moderately acidic, and finishes moderately acidic and lightly bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery with a fizzy carbonation. A refreshing beer, but just an okay Saison.
