Tasted this in the Salt Cot, Saltcoats (JDW) in April 2013. Cask, handpump dispense. Crystal clear russet in colour withn a thin light buff head. Orange zest in the citrusy aroma. Thin resiny mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malt gives a digestive tea biscuit base with strong zesty fruit notes of tart grapefruit pith. Hint of rye grain in the mouth. Strong citrus flavour to the bitter astringent hop resins evident in the mouth. Finish is slightly malty with orange peel notes present. An ok amber ale but lacking in complexity.

UPDATED: MAY 7, 2013 The Felix, Nuneaton, 24/04/13. Eponymous with a tight drum of head draping the glass. Soft chocolate, chestnut, possibly coriandered aroma. A decent red jelly, coriander, Hovis biscuit mixture of flavours more in the Belgian camp than US. Reminds me of those slightly flowery, biscuity Belgian impersonations of an English ale. Good fresh malty finish; nut husk and digestive afters. Good.

Pint in The Tyburn JDW near Marble Arch. Dark brown with very small head. Not much gas (which is okay).

Cask @ Standing Order, Edinburgh [090413]
Orange amber, clear, frothy white head, good lacing
Aroma of soft citrus hops and soft fruity malts
Taste of bitter citrus hops, slightly custardy sweet fruity malts, getting some caramelised orange
Palate - Medium body, smooth texture. Finish - moderate bitter hops with some sweet malts with a bit of caramel, bitter tail
Overall this was OK

Cask. Mostly clear copper shade with a long-lasting head. Aroma is predictably hoppy. Lovely caramel, orange and berry taste with plenty of hop bitterness. Served in top form and uber drinkable, this one was a winner for me.

Cask, wetherspoon ale festival, Francis Newton, Sheffield, UK. Mahogany colour, fresh hop aroma, background of caramel. Smooth, sweet, some caramel and floral flavours. End is too sweet for me, but nice nonetheless.

Cask conditioned handpump Hedley Verity Leeds 15/04/13. A reddy brown coloured beer with a white head and lace. Sweetish toasty malts and hops. nice character and good flavours with the toastiness being enjoyable. Nowhere near hoppy enough to be an Amber Ale on my tasting; more like an Irish Ale in many ways.

Crosse Keys Spoons. Almost clear amber beer, good pale cream coloured head. Palate is delightfully fresh and smooth. Semi dry with good fine carbonation. Light fresh creamy malt. Nice balancing hops - semi sweet fresh orange and mild floral notes. Turns much more bitter and provides a long bitter linger. Just a really nicely balanced, fresh and drinkable beer. Nice one!

RichTheVillan (8248) - Birmingham, West Midlands, ENGLAND - APR 13, 2013
Cask at JDW Charlie Hall; dark amber pour with fluffy white head, feint hop aroma, taste is mostly caramel malt, can’t believe I held at this long before participating in spoons ale fest.
