This pint was in good nick, not one to rave about but eminently quaffable. leaparsons (10657) - Wigston, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - APR 12, 2013
Cask, The Highcross, Leicester. Dark amber brown with a cream foam. Aromas are raisins and dark winter fruit with medicinal notes. Earthy and plummy with brown sugar and light roast malts. Chocolate with traces of liquorice. Flavours are sweet and fruity with dark berries and some plummy red wine notes. Spicy on the finish with bitter lemon. Nice. , wednesfield. Reddish amber with small head and good lacing. Aroma of dry malts. Taste is dry leaves, malts, a touch of citrus and dry hops. Medium bodied. I am not a fan of amber ales, but this one was quite good.
Cask at Square Peg, Brum. My new home. I don’t feel safe. All the bar staff are 7ft. It’s heaving in here. Cheap. I don’t think I’d thrive in a prison environment. Lots of old ppl and fluorescent jackets. My goodness it’s cheap though - have I mentioned that? 2 halves have broken the seal; want more now. This beer (meanwhile) is OK. Some discernible hopping, but still lacks any discernible US hop flavour. Maybe when I burp I’ll appreciate the flavours a bit more. The mouthfeel of many of these fest beers is poor. Boring finish here too. Get out of my house. BeerViking (4954) - Brentford, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 10, 2013
Dark amber with fast-settling off-white head. Piney hoppy nose with hints of dark marmalade and caramel. Rich and malty-sweet yet with an immediate hop bite and a lingering bitter and marmalade finish.
