Draught (Four Candles, Oxford)
Lovely sweet honey malts in the aroma, and floral hopping. Soft palate, carbonation low. Taste is honey, malty, bready, a bit doughy. A very nice bitter.

Cask at The Green Dragon, Leek (JDW) A clear deep golden colour with a frothy white head. Aroma of orange, pine, grapefruit, some mango, slight peach, a hint of caramel and subtle lemon. Taste of orange, grapefruit, mango, pine, some peach, slight caramel and subtle herbal hops. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A dryish, slightly piney, citrus hop bitterness in the finish. A fruity and citrusy APA with a malt balance. Maybe not as refined as I like but still very good.

Cask at The Bishops Mill, Durham, 1.99/pint. Pours dark amber/copper with foamy white head. Aroma promises citrus which flavour fails to deliver as it is cloyingly bitter on an overly thick palate and little else. Not very good at all.

Nice deep gold thick tanned head. Smells sweet and fruit. Taste tart frutiness balanced with a nicefoll sweetness. Balanced and very flavourful and tasty.

(Cask at Crown Rivers JDW, Heathrow Airport, London, 26 Apr 2015) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with orange peel, citrus, caramel and a touch of resin. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of caramel, treacle-toffee, orange peel and a slightly resiny bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty, with a fresh hop character. Nice one.

Cask at The Pommelers Rest. Dirty orange, slight haze, still, small foamy off-white head, full lacing. Aroma is lime, soap. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste has light lime, straw, resin, soft bitterness. A little soapy here and there, but pretty nice overall. It didnt complement my fried breakfast at all unfortunately.

Hand pulled at the Pump House, Shirley, Solihull. Poured a medium amber with a long lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grapefruit zesty citrus. The flavour is acidic, light sour with a metallic hop, citrus, dry sour yeast and thoroughly unpleasant floral bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. As I ticked this there was a guy next to me returning his pint saying it was undrinkable. He wasnt far wrong. Some people have rated this highly and others say it smells like cats piss! Maybe there is an infected batch out there, but either way, this was pretty poor and I drank just a couple of mouthfuls. Drain pour.
