Cask by hand-pump at West Kirk, Ayr (25 Dec 2013) - clear reddish brown, thin bubbly head, spicy malty aroma, no lacing, caramel, toffee, cinnamon, nicely balanced, not so keen on the spiciness, but well drinkable

Can. Dark cherry color with thin white head that dissipates. Sweet fruit flavor over mild carbonation. Nice ale with some complexity. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask Pint at Wibbas Down (JDW), Wimbledon, London in Jan 2014 - Mid/Dark Brown in colour. Malty; rye malts, grainy, roasty/toasty, toffee. Earthy and spicy. Hoppy; herbal and citrus hops. Fruity; orange citrus and hint of dark fruits. Moderately bitter malty earthy throughout. Dry and bitter into the finish. Enjoyed this. Nice Beer!

Fra cask på Flying Horse (JDW), Gatwick 28 Jan 13. Dyp mørkebrun. Lavt tett skum. Brukbar lacing. Tiltalende aroma av bær. Smaken er for det meste malt. Litt syrlig. Myk munnfølelse. Har et underliggende preg av mandler. Blir vel tørr i avslutninga.

Beautiful looking beer. A treat when you get it on tap. Fresh beer with sourdough notes. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Had this at the high cross (JDW) Leicester- cask. This is a very good beer. Very dark brown with thin lacing. Aroma is herbal sweets/liquorice. Taste is very nice- malty but herbal liquorice with nice hoppy bitterness. Mouthfeel is oily. Very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask conditioned handpump Eastgate Northampton 23/01/14 A dark brown coloured beer with a whitish head and lace. A very interesting beer for sure. Citrussy fruits and herbal notes. Lamon and lime. Some licorice. Menthol. Liked this and it’s very tasty but it’s a bit strange.

BlackHaddock (7346) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - JAN 27, 2014
Hand-pulled pint at Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport on 16th Jan 2014. Dark mahogany / teak like body with a full off-white head that gave some good lacing. This beer leads with semi-sweet malty molasses, demerara sugar, rum, raisins, plums and mixed spices: very impressed to be honest, hit my sweet tooth right on the head. Good body depth and the flavours just about hid the alcohol, a real pleasure to drink and I’d have had another if my flight hadn’t been called.

Pours a hazy copper with basically no head. Sweet, burnt caramel notes on the nose. Light carbonation with a light-medium body. Drinks sweet and smooth with caramel notes. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask, JDW. Rich red brown, v. light brown head. Aroma is malty, toffee, raisins, dark red fruits. Maybe a little licorice. Taste is similar, malt sweet, dark. Bitter influence is licoricy. Full bodied, thick, syrupy, bit of a struggle for an ale. Very nice, for a JDW effort.
