Adnams Explorer captures the spirit of discovery by blending Chinook and Columbus hops with the New World. The citrus attack will burst on your palate. Fantastic served chilled and the fruity hoppiness of the beer means that it goes well with cleanly flavoured foods. Try it with salmon, vegetarian options and with summer salads. (Contains barley). Silver medal winner at the 2015 Great British Beer Festival. Now limited release in keg to J D Wetherspoon outlets.

Cask at the George, London. Clear yellow on the pou with a light, white film. Pleasant nose of citrus, grapefruit and straw. Nice flavor, with light toasty hay, grass and citrus bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Mild bitter finish, more citrus and grass on the tongue. Pretty good beer.

Pint, The Moon on the Square, Basildon (JDW). Citrus, citrus, citrus! Great twangy, zesty, juicy gobs of grapefruit and mandarin. Golden shining tightheaded refreshingly tart and with all the bitterness you might wish. Enough hops but to be super critical, maybe a little more malt to meet the citrus might have been nice. Loved this stuff, loved it, really quaff-able with a clean finish and a more-ish flavour. Had four of these to finish the night!

Cask, Spoons by Liverpool Street. Good white lacing, rather hazy, more Heffe in appearance than Pale Ale, floral and perfume aroma and also some us hops. Moderately hoppy, a Columbus hop for an Explorer beer is most appropriate,. taste is citrus, butterscotch, diacritical, oil and cream. Very smooth and easy goingwith a crisp, dry and citric finish. Needs a lot more hops.

(Cask at Junction Tavern, London) Very pale for a bitter. Also the beer was quite fruity. The most pleasant thing was the citricness in the aroma. The flavour wasnt really at the same level. So, the little lack of balance was decrementing the score I gave.

Fairly dull bitter - some hop character but not particularly interesting or full-bodied. Acceptable session ale.

Cask. The Lansdowne, Leicester. Hoppy, with floral notes. Also toffee and popcorn, apple and pine. Slight haziness, with a medium white head. Bitter with some sweet notes. Oily on the palate.
