UPDATED: NOV 2, 2016 A shame this was retired. I rather enjoyed it. Maybe some of the other users got old bottles but the one I tried back in the day was very drinkable with a distinctly nutty flavor. Serving: Bottle
Cask at the Bleeding Heart, Hatton Garden, London. 4.0% abv. Pours mid brown with an amber tint and a small beige head. Aroma of toffee, citrus, malt, hop, blackcurrant and gooseberry. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness, hint of fruit sour. Moderate body, slight oily and watery texture, average carbonation. Finish is nutty, fruity, bitter and a touch tart. Quite enjoyable. Cask at Edward Rayne (JDW), Raynes Park in Sept 2017 - Now 4% - Deep reddish brown in colour. Good foamy tan head. Excellent lacing. Malty; lightly roasty malts, nuts, caramel. Fruity; citrus fruit notes. Hoppy; moderate hop bitterness. Bitter malty very nutty and very dry throughout. Interesting and different. Enjoyable. Decent. Cask handpull at The Crosse Keys London as Adnams Nut Brown Ale. Bought purely because of the squirrel pump clip. Served in a tulip...in Wetherspoons! Pretty much black and opaque in this light, foamy light brown head, full lacing. Aroma is liquorice, blackcurrant and hipster cola. Body is quite light, smooth with soft to tingly carbonation for cask. Taste is hopped up cola, liquorice and some blackjack sweets, traces of blackcurrant. Doubt the original recipe tasted like this - it currently sort of tastes like a black IPA. Not malt-forward as was expected. I like it. Would have again. Bar, Copenhagen (16/09/2017) - brown pour with a beige head. Toasted and sweet malty with some roasted accents, some caramel and roasted nutty nuance, twiggy bitter hoppy into the finish.
Dark red/brown colour. Taste is peppery with a dry finish some malts come through but it's largely in the hops. Unexpectically thin. But it's good here. Keeps it light. Decent refreshing ale. Ungstrup (38986) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - SEP 11, 2017
Cask. A hazy brown beer with a lazing tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and nuts. The flavor is sweet with notes of nuts, caramel, and malt, leading to a bitter finish. The body is light.
