Aug 2006: I dont like doing this, but it has to be said. I think this beer is produced by Adnams (whos other beers I love)to try and get lager drinkers away from cold tasteless, colourless lager. To do this, they have produced a Real Ale which is almost colourless and tasteless. It is straw blond in colour and looks from a distance like a lager, having a white head also, so the advertising man is happy!. It just does nothing for me, there is no aroma, taste or anything else which would let you know it was a beer from Adnams. It is only produced in the summer, when Southwold is full of tourists and the Londoners who have bought half of the village as second homes, maybe they drink it.

Tasted this in the Lord Nelson, Southwold. Hand pump dispense. Crystall clear gold amber in colour with a thin white head. Slight citric tang in the short aroma. Thin mouthfeel and slight lacing. Pale malts give a juicy citric fruit base with lemon rind evident. Floral hop resins give a tart bitter bite in the aftertaste. Finish is rather dry and hoppy. An ok golden ale, perfect on warm summer days.
