COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A refreshing beer of real flavour - distinctively hoppy and dry with malt aromas. Delicious served cool. Adnams brewery has stood in the heart of Southwold for over six hundred years and "Southwold Jack" appears on our beer labels. He continues to guard over our longest-serving beer brewed here in Southwold on the Suffolk coast -The Bitter. Bitter goes well with roast meats and fish cooked in batter as the clean bitterness cuts through the slightly fatty notes and hence keeps the palate refreshed. Our Bitter also makes a good aperitif. Available (pasteurised) in 500ml bottles and 500ml cans.

33 cl, bottled. Pours clear gold with a decent white head. Aroma: Some malt, nuts. Mildly hops, spices. Taste: Medium sweet, toffee, malty characters. Yeasty tones! I like that. Palate: Quite light body, near average carbonation. Easy to drink. Some minimal bitterness. Decent.

From the bottle it pours a clear amber/brown with a tan head. The smell is fruit, caramel, bread. The taste is crisp up front, toasted malt, caramel, fruit ending fairly bitter and dry. Light in body with rather active carbonation.

Bottle. A very good bitter. Good flavour all the way through, never watery. Easy to drink, quite light, not too many heavy or overly rich flavours. Therefore I think this would be ideal for people who enjoy lager, but are looking for more flavour in their drink.

Dark amber beer with a large foamy head. Nose has biscuit, lemon, pineapple and hay. Taste is sweet biscuit, lots of lemon, hints of hay and tangy light bitter finish. Nice beer.

Pours a clear amber color, topped with a medum sized beige head. Nice and mild caramel malt aroma. Taste starts sweet, mild caramel presence, followed by a gentle hoppy bitterness and a short aftertaste. Drinkable, mild and non-offensive. Nothing special, though. Still, not bad.

Tastes of caramel, a very slight hint of fruitiness, fading into herbal hops with a mild bitter aftertaste. Not great but not bad.
