By tapped cask in the Blue Boar Maldon Essex
Underrated because it allways tastes better in southwold!
A nutty, tangy bitter with a distinctive aroma of smoke. A real bitter bitter!! MyLittleTown (8) - Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - SEP 7, 2014 does not count
Deserves it’s stellar reputation. A classic English bitter of the South/Eastern tradition. Fairly pale, with a loose head of biggish bubbles. Aroma is slight, but is followed by a strong grip on the palate and a truly bitter flavour which lingers. At 3.7% it is a proper session beer, and proof that great beers do not need a high alcohol content. mrtavora (27) - - JUL 20, 2012
Creamy white head and strong hop aroma. Tastes very earthy and floral. Stylewise is more an IPA than a bitter. Overall a great beer, will definitely have it again when I see it. blueden (31) - Essex, ENGLAND - DEC 22, 2013
Must be one of the best session beers ever. Drank this many times over many years, perfect bitterness, Flugelmeister (3) - Mitcham, AUSTRALIA - FEB 25, 2004 does not count
Colour is fantasic as well as the genuine hops and well balanced fusion between taste and aromas. malty yet smooth. My current favorite, but in short supply here in Australia.

Beer Engine: cloudy brown orange with a HUGE frothy foam, not just persistant, more like Stonehenge. . .crazy barnyard aroma, amazingly musty and natural, great yeast - sour and tart, very interesting and complex, almost like a gueuze. . . lingering sourness that keeps the palate wet and makes me want more. haddonsman (1234) - Derby, Derbyshire, ENGLAND - APR 26, 2004
Cask. Gorgeous amber colour, spot on mixture of maltiness with delicate fruit aroma, enough head to last. Not too strong so a great pint to enjoy several of through a summers evening. kayres (881) - , Georgia, USA - APR 29, 2012
Burnt orange to lt copper colored with a thin off white head. Malty nutty nose and hints of hops. Medium bodied and well balanced, low carbonation. Slightly stale hop flavor but a good session beer

5 Litre Mini-Cask from Adnams Brewery shop.
Hugely impressive Bitter for its modest strength. Taste: marmalade and sulphur. It has detectable aroma too. Hbie (133) - Essex, ENGLAND - JUN 17, 2004
Cask conditioned many times in Essex and Sufolk. I drink more of this beer than any other as it is in my local. Full flavoured for its gravity, hoppy and bitter with lots of dry hops which helps it keep longer.
