330ml brown bottle. 2011 vintage. Pours deep brown, some ruby highlights. Small and thin tan cap. Nose is malty, raisiny, touch of brown sugar. Taste has dark chocolatey malt, slight fruity note, raisin, toffee, light roast. Finishes with some hop bitterness and a touch roast and chocolate. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Lots of rich malts, rather roasty for the style, but enjoyable.

On tap at Galbraith’s. Pours dark red brown. Caramel, toffee apple, little bourbon stuff, some vanilla, quite a lot of toast and biscuit. Decent barley wine given the strength.

Aromas florales y a caramelo. Buen asepecto, pero mala retencion de espuma. En boca caramelo y maltas tostada iniciales y final frutal seco

Bouteille Reserve 2012.

Really well balanced for a barley wine. Not sticky or sickly at all.Gently carbonated with some nice hops for good measure and rich salted caramel malts. Rich amber colour. Warm but gentle. Deep but somehow still fresh, This is a very good beer. "016

Handpull cask at the Cambridge Blue.nvery dark brown, translucent. Freshly ground coffee, figgy pudding and brandied fruit in the aroma. Rich, moist, dark. Tastes incredible. It’s sweet, fruity, and deeply pleasurable. It’s not the least bit cloying though due to the brown malt and a well-judged dose of earthy hop. Viscous body. More Christmas pud with a touch of leather in the aftertaste. Great stuff.

Bottle. BB date Dec 2012; Drank Jan 2011 - BCA - Dark Mahogany Red in colour. Rich, fruity aroma. Very Fruity; dark fruits, raisins, plums, prunes, figs. Very Malty; roasty biscuity malts, caramel, toffee, burnt sugar, hint of chocolate. Hint of hops. Rather vinous. Noticeable warming alcohol. Roasty/burnt bitterness edges the sweet fruitiness leading to a dry roasty finish. Better than I had expected. Very drinkable. (2011-01-25)
