COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Adriaen Brouwer, which is re-fermented in the bottle, is surprisingly complex. The nose of this Oudenaarde Brown beer features malt, caramel and dry fruit, with the merest hint of acidity. The finish is bitter-sweet, and the alcohol adds a warm glow. A balanced beer with a full mouth-feel. Could the painter and bon vivant Adriaen Brouwer have wished for anything more?

(Bottle, Monks Caf Wallingatan, Stockholm) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of caramel, dried fruit, crisp-bread and raisins. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, chocolate, raisins, prunes, brown sugar, crisp-bread and a spicy bitterness with a touch of liquorice. Almost full body, with a touch of sweetness. Well balanced, tasty and very nice.

FROTHINGSLOSH (7490) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 27, 2011
Sampled from a 750 ml corked brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with a large foamy tan head that faded quickly and left minimal lacing. The aroma was port wine, tart cherries, a bit of vinegar, wood and malted milk. The flavor was oddly spicy with notes of tart cherries, wood, sourdough bread, vanilla and malted milk. The finish was long with tart cherry, wood and vague spices lingering. Medium body and a bit overcarbonated. Interesting.

Huge beige lasting head. Clear slightly hazy red body with strong carbonation. Dried fruit and wild berries aroma with herbal caramelly notes. Dry-sweet caramelly tofffee and strawberry taste with dried fruit and honey notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, faintly warm mouthfeel. Dry alcoholic peppery dried fruit aftertaste with spicy herbal yeasty banana notes. Nice, drinkable, and full of flavour. (0.33l bottle, wine monopoly Vika, Oslo.)

Sigmund (7230) - Tau, NORWAY - JAN 10, 2012
330 ml stubby bottle, from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo. ABV is 8.5%. Brown colour, huge beige head. High (too high) level of carbonation, even in the mouth. Fairly strong aroma, very much a "typical Belgian dubbel": notes of brown malts, caramel, brown kandij sugar and mild spices. The flavour has the same elements as the aroma, but is not too sweet. The hops are very moderate, Id like some more. Still a decent and drinkable beer as it is.

A Mes rate. Draught at Brugge fest. Mid brown with a good white head. A bit on the bland side all round really. Faint spice, some soy and dried fruit. Very slight roasted malt in the finish. Dull.
