Cask (gravity dispense) at Egham Beer Festival, November 2012. Noted at 4.8%. A bit murky. Copper colour. Toffeeish vaguely nutty with a fair ration of earthy hops. A little sweet. Although described as an "Amber Ale" it seemed pretty much like a bitter to me. Perfectly drinkable and not short of flavour but didn’t really grab me. Will probably give this another go from bottle.
Bottle from Theydon_Bois, thanks! Malt, caramel and licorice in the aroma. Massive gusher! Malty sweet flavor with caramel, licorice and a hint of salt. gunnfryd (15287) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - SEP 2, 2014

Bottled 14/06/14. A dark brown coloured beer. A dry malty beer. Quite smoky. Deliberately old fashioned and I guess it succeeds at what it set out to do. Competently drinkable if a bit dull by today’s standards. Rasmus40 (21989) - Beder, Aarhus, DENMARK - MAY 19, 2014
Bottle from Alesbymail. Clear amber with a big off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and heavy nutty. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. Somewhat high carbonation. 190514 BeerViking (5046) - Brentford, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 16, 2014
Cask at Kingston Beer Festival, deep copper brown with a thin white head, roast coffee and dark dried fruit aromas, and then a malty, slightly toasty body, touches of brown bread, and a little liquorice in the finish.

Bottle. A, small, dense, off-white head leaves lacings. Clear, dark golden body except for some floaties. The aroma is mostly malty, in a not too pleasant way. Some resiny, grassy hints. The flavor is pretty much the same, with some bitterness. Hints of coffee and roasted malts. Full to medium body with a pleasant carbonation level. Maltysweet finish with a touch of roasted malts. Well, can’t say I’m impressed, must say I’m glad I don’t live in the 1870’s. 140418 Meilby (11692) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - APR 18, 2014
