Tap @ Zly Casy, Prague. Pours dark unclear brown with a creamy white head and lacings. Chewy malty. Smoke, caramel, campfire and bacon. Smooth and subdued smoke profile/balanced. Full bodied. Dammn lovely! brokensail (16695) - Dublin, California, USA - JAN 23, 2011
A: The beer pours amber in color with a soapy white head to go with it.
S: Definitely quite a bit of smoke, though not quite as campfire heavy as their other beers. There’s a definite oak smell to this (apparently the use of oak is one of the main things that sets this beer apart from their others) it, and just very woody overall. A slight meaty character, which I tend to pick up in smoked beers.
T: I can actually taste a decent amount of sweetness from the beer, which has a doppelbock recipe. There is still a lot of smoke and a hint of saltiness to it. There is a touch of fruit underneath, maybe apples. Perhaps it’s the saltiness, but I actually do get some bacon here.
M: The body is medium and so is the carbonation. The smoke sort of lingers on the tongue.
D: While their beers aren’t always my thing, this was surprisingly good. Certainly quite smokey, but enjoyable and different. Borup (16542) - Albertslund, DENMARK - MAR 30, 2014
50 cl. bottle. Dark clear golden colour with an off-white head. Aroma and flavour of smoke, oak, caramel, malt and hints of alcohol. bhensonb (16389) - Woodland, California, USA - FEB 22, 2011
Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours hazy orange amber with a little whiteish head. Aroma is rough/harsh smoke. Med body. Flavor of smokey malt. Tobacco hints. Oak? Apparently lost in the smoke. A flavorful beer that went really well with the homemade chili. MiP (16143) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - JAN 11, 2011
UPDATED: SEP 13, 2013 Bottle, 8.0%. Distinct smoke aroma, but not too much, also some malt. Clear brown colour, seems to have a little red. Tan head, semi-frothy and semi-stable. The flavour has a distinct smokiness and a rather sweet maltiness. The finish is drier and perhaps a bit more aggressively hopped than their Rachbier Märzen. Does not really taste 8%, but it is very good.

Bottled, 500ml at Schlenkerla in Bamberg. Dark amber with off white head. There is a deep smokiness to this, smoky bacon with a hint of smoked paprika, smooth and luscious, silky and full of flavour. The alcohol fills the palate, the apricot fruitiness adds character. Lovely. gunnfryd (15818) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - APR 24, 2011

Bottle shared at a tasting at kerenmk’s place. Slightly hazy deep amber. Great smoked sausages aroma with some wood. Malty flavor, rather sweet, with caramel, a bit of nuts, lots of smoked meat, and a drier finish, smoky and woody. Medium-bodied, oily and pretty rounded mouthfeel. Very good.
