COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
While for the classic "Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier" traditionally beech has been - and still is - used, the malt for "Schlenkerla Oak Smoke" is kilned with Oak wood. The resulting Schlenkerla Oak Smoke Malt has a smoother and more multi layered smoky note than the intensely aromatic Beech Smoke Malt. The hence complex smokiness in the "Schlenkerla Oak Smoke" is paired with the multifaceted bitterness of finest Hallertau aroma hops. With 8% alcohol and amber color it matures for months in the deep brewery cellars underneath Bamberg into a special treat for smoke beer lovers. www.Smokebeer.com

   AROMA 8/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 8/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 16/20
Acetobacter (816) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 3, 2011
Thoroughly enjoyed from a 16.9oz bottle in a wine glass. The beer pours a deep brown color, with a moderate light brown head. Wondrous notes of smoked meats and German character malt come through in the nose; an intoxicated array of bacon, raisons, caramelized brown sugar, and just a touch of wood. The palate replicates many of the aromas, showing a deep and rich smoke note, followed by a nice but not over-the-top amount of malt depth and complexity. Again, oak shows through, but only slightly, adding to the painting, rather than completely covering the canvas. The finish leaves a lingering note of smoke. Overall, an outstanding beer, by any measurement.

From bottle in dimpled mug. Pours reddish copper with off white head that faded quickly. Aroma of smoked meat that permeated the taste as well. Hallertau more noticable as it warmed. Rich & tasty with malt sweetness providing balance

Barwa brunatna, średnia piana, powoli opadając, pozostawia wyraźny kożuch. W aromacie drewno, ognisko, wędzone mięso. W smaku oczywiście chleb, zaskakująco słodkie, czuć trochę alkohol, są też śliwki. Wysycenie niskie, goryczka ledwo wyczuwalna. Pozostawia posmak ciemnego chleba i owoców. Raczej dość zaskakujące.

500ml bottle. Extra from Kuba. Thanks. Transparent amber color. Aroma is smoked malt, burning wood. Taste is smoke, smoked Gouda, pine. Medium body. Not a fan of smoked but this is drinkable for me.

500ml bottle. Pours clear dark amber, thick yellowish head stays. Aroma of smoke, smoked cheese, sauna, bacon, smoked sausage. Taste is rich malty, smoky, woody. Finish is woody, bitterish smoky. Medium + bodied, average carbo. Really nice one, I love the aroma.

It pours dark amber with red hues. It has a light brown head with tiny beading in the initial pour. It has moderate head retention. It has a pleasant bacon like smoke aroma. There is also a complex blend of oak and malty richness. The flavors has a combination of bacon like smoke with oak. There are background notes of malty richness and hints of dark fruit. It has a full body that is slightly heavy on the palate with smoke that lingers well into the aftertaste. Overall, this beer provides a good portion of smoke without overdoing it and also provides the background balance with rich malt and hints of dark fruits.

The oak smoke is outstanding. I love this beer. Being a Dopplebock it has that rich malt flavor to go with the smoke flavor. Can't beat this style from Bamberg. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Wspaniała wędzonka serowa z solidnym, słodowym podłożem. Ciemno-miedziana barwa, piana zostaje. Alkohol niewyczuwalny. Świetne piwo!

Piana niewielka, opada do krążka i tak zostaje. Kolor bursztyn klarowny. Aromat wyraźna dominująca wędzonka szynkowa, dymna, karmel melanoidyny, przyjemny. Smak, pełnia słodowa, słodycz landrynkowa, karmel, melanoidyny. Alkohol ukryty goryczka średnia do niskiej. Niestety moja butelka (dwa miesiące po terminie ważności) złapała brzydkie utlenienie w mokry karton, to znacznie obniża ocenę. Piwo dobre mimo wady, ale wielkiego wrażenia nie zrobiło.
