The Original Schlenkerla Lentbeer is an unfiltered smokebeer, brewed according to the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. Bottom-fermenting yeast gives the reddish brown lentbeer a natural cloudiness. Its smokey aroma is already noticeable in the smell, combined with a fine hoppy note. In the drink the fullbodied, highly drinkable lentbeer shows its strong malty flavour, rounded up with the smokey taste and a light bitterness. Due to the nourishing yeast, the Original Schlenkerla Lentbeer has the "Brotzeit already included" (German word for afternoon snack). Served / Sold: - Only during lent from Ash Wednesday to Easter - Only from the wooden keg at the Schlenkerla Data: Original Gravity: 14.5% Alcohol: 5.5% EBU: 32

pilsnerrogge (2945) - Finspång, SWEDEN - MAY 30, 2015
Deep copper brown with a large head.
Aroma is smoked ham, bacon and char coal.
Taste is campfire smoke, char coal and smoked ham.

axl (868) - Lund, SWEDEN - MAY 29, 2015
500ml bottle. Dark brown with one finger tan head. Aroma is smoked meats, smoke, caramel maltiness and a light citrusy note. Taste is mostly roasted and smoked malts and black bread but also offers a light sweetness as well as a surprisingly fresh character once again with some light citrus in it. A bit like lemon squeezed over grilled beef. The mouthfeel is medium yet surprisingly light and the carbonation is medium.

NordicV (2343) - Malmö, Sweden, SWEDEN - MAY 27, 2015

tmongoose (2504) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - MAY 26, 2015
pint 9 bottle poured a medium brown but still semi transparent with a nice egg shell colored head and lasting. the aroma is smoke and what I thought would be candied bacon and pork. mild to medium malt base. the flavor is one of the best smoked beers I have ever tasted. almost sweet smoked flavor with bacon, nice malt backbone. wow this is awesome...evenly balanced all the way through. but still has a light enough body not to scare you.

Vignale (3824) - Malmö, SWEDEN - MAY 25, 2015
Riktigt gott.

thomat (3856) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAY 24, 2015
Bottle from SB. Dark reddish brown with a thick tan head. Smokey and malty tones. Smoke, malt, caramel and hops. Medium body with a smokey, bitter finish.

Lilja (3159) - Malmö, SWEDEN - MAY 24, 2015
UPDATED: MAY 28, 2015 Flaska från SB. Smak och doft av humle, karamell, torkad frukt, charkuterier, tjära, läder, aska, rök, bränt trä. Lagom sötma, fina smaker och rökighet, fruktig med lagom beska. Gott under förutsättning att du gillar rököl!

@ Havregatan 150524. Bottle (500 ml) from Systembolaget. Roasted, malty and smokey with fruity notes and charcuteries, medium sweet, medium body with an oily texture. The finish is dry, roasted and smokey.

Garlic_of_Doom (645) - SWEDEN - MAY 23, 2015
Bottle from Systembolaget. Really dark amber, perhaps almost brown with a creamy beige head. Sweet malty aroma that is quite peaty. Aroma is sweet and light smoky. Light body, low carbonation, dry. Herbal bitter after taste.
Not as good as the other offerings from Heller.

Lawger (275) - SWEDEN - MAY 22, 2015
Pours a pretty clear chestnut with big light-khaki head. The usual charcuterie scents dominates the nose. Smoked ham, smoked sausages, a hint of damp wood smoke, wet moss, a hint of hay, some assorted grains and semi-dark chocolate in the background. Light to medium bodied, dry palate. Quite muted flavours. Ends on a dry, slightly spicy, herbal and ashy note on the shortish finish. I prefer the normal Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
