The Original Schlenkerla Lentbeer is an unfiltered smokebeer, brewed according to the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. Bottom-fermenting yeast gives the reddish brown lentbeer a natural cloudiness. Its smokey aroma is already noticeable in the smell, combined with a fine hoppy note. In the drink the fullbodied, highly drinkable lentbeer shows its strong malty flavour, rounded up with the smokey taste and a light bitterness. Due to the nourishing yeast, the Original Schlenkerla Lentbeer has the "Brotzeit already included" (German word for afternoon snack). Served / Sold: - Only during lent from Ash Wednesday to Easter - Only from the wooden keg at the Schlenkerla Data: Original Gravity: 14.5% Alcohol: 5.5% EBU: 32

Bottle to stange Consummation: Smoked malt, loads of bitterness, bread, yeast, middling sweetness Adjunct: Aroma is almost completely smoky. That is, smoked malt, bacon, and smoked gouda; fairly clear amber with lots of tiny particulates that look like little smoke clouds along with a thick, creamy, light tan head with good retention and lots of lacing.

Bottle. Loads of bacon on the nose. Pours dark brown and cloudy with a thick cream head. Really bacon to taste and really good.

Pours a dark cola colour with a light tan head, and not my lacing. The taste is breadiness and of course the smoke but it doesnt overwhelm, instead gives depth. Almost like roast beef and gravy, or at least makes me want so to go with. Excellent beer and well worth looking for.

This is great. Dark brown and cloudy with a good layer of beige head. Body is medium to full and well carbonated. The nose is more smoked Bavarian cheese than the smoky bacon of its sister beers. Taste has more wispy smoke, burnt toffee, red berries, spicy dark fruit and a crisp lager- like bitterness.

500ml bottle. Pours cloudy brown with a substantial off white head which retains and laces well. The aroma is smoked Bavarian cheese and fruit. The taste is really good, medium bodied, light/medium sweet and very light bitterness.

Bottle from Beer Cartel 191016. Smooth and smokey just the way I like my Rauchbiers. While it might look a bit thin bodied in the glass it is not. Plenty of smoke in both the aroma and the flavour, almost smoked ham like. This is another in the fine line of Aecht Schlenkerla beers.

Tap. Very pleasant Scherlenkerla, but I prefer the Marzen and the Weizen.. This is a little more straight forward and not quite so rewarding.

Aroma; smoked malts, leather, tar, leaves n old grass. Look; beige big head, brown body. Taste; roasted malts, smoked malts, peat, grassy hops, soft caramels - smoked stuff fading away and leading to a malty finish. Feel; alright. Overall; tasty brew, and the smoke isnt that strong in taste as in aroma. [50cl.btl 5.5% BB.10.2016]
