2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
UPDATED: MAY 1, 2012 Bottle. Poured a clear medium brown with an average sized (1-2 finger) off-white creamy head that was mostly lasting and had fair lacing.
The aroma was of a heavy smoked malt, a very light bitter hop and a moldy leathery yeast with a heavy note of smoke and meat (like a smoked ham).
It tasted a little acidic and mildly malty and a little bitter with an intense smoky flavor from start to finish. The flavor lasted an extremely long time and all I could taste was the liquid smoke that was left behind on the taste buds.
Mouthfeel was about half way to medium in body with a watery yet creamy texture and a soft carbonation.
Overall a very different brew than what I am used to, it was kind of like drinking liquid smoke straight out of the bottle. I have had other Smoked Beers but none this intense. Needless to say, not all beers are for everyone and this one is definitely not for me!!
Smaakt ook een beetje naar gerookte spek, maar is toch net iets beter dan de Schlenkerla Rauchbier Weizen. bergstaden (2984) - Røros, NORWAY - JUL 22, 2017

Great BBQ in here, although I definitely prefer the Eiche rn for thickness sake, this one’s got a pretty low bod, and taste, yallreadynow, smoke, wood, etc. erikaraeb (226) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUL 19, 2017
Smoky meat flavour - quite enjoyable, if you’re into that. "Like BBQ in a glass," per the bartender. Decent amount of head. Not too thick. WillemsUrenkel (1876) - Oldenburg, GERMANY - JUL 19, 2017
0,5 l bottle. Pours out in a dark red brown, huge head. A lot of smoke and malt on the nose. Tastes the same. Thought it has more smoke so far as I remember from my younger beer days. Maybe I´m more experienced now. But to be honest, it has a lot of smoke and malt. Some bacon, some wood. Really nice one.

Real smoked beer. An explosion of bacon and smoke. Excellent to accompany a cigar. jrh2254 (116) - burton-on-trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - JUL 7, 2017
From a beer hawk mystery case. Pours dark brown with a thin head. Little aroma other than feint roasted malt. Reminded me of a light milk stout. Roasted chocolate malt. Nice ,light and tasty but a little sweet.

500ml bottle. Pours a clear deep brown with a thick beige head. Aroma: very meaty smoke, burnt wood/grass, bonfire. Taste: intense smoked meats, very woody like you’ve breathed in bonfire smoke, hard to describe precisely, some spice that reminds me of smoked sausage with hot paprika. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. An incredibly interesting style. The first proper Rauchbier I’ve had and while I loved the aroma I found it a little hard to drink due to the intensity of the smoke. vsyrbu (141) - MOLDOVA - JUN 30, 2017
An excellent example of a rauchbeer. Aroma of smoking, prunes. The taste is very pleasant smoked, the same prunes and a bit of fruits ingredients.
