(First tapping every first Thursday of October) A smoked bock beer for Bamberg’s strong beer season (October through December). Matured for months in ancient rock-cellars underneath Bamberg and tapped freshly from the oakwood cask. Similar to, but much bigger than the classic Maerzen style.

Klares rotbraun mit reichlich Schaum. Rauchmalze, reichlich Speck, holzig, sehr würzig, dezent süß, im Abgang leicht bitter.

UPDATED: OCT 11, 2017 Excellent smoked beer. A bit strong smoke taste for novice, but I love it like that.

2 finger off-white head. Close to pitch black beer.

Aroma is as if you fell face down onto a tray of charcuterie. Smoked ham, mature cheese, salami, slight bitter chocolate and campfire smoke.

Taste is dark rye bread, dried & smoked ham, slight chocolate sweetness and raisins.

Mouthfeel is smooth. Well carbonated. Low bitterness. Rich in flavour for the ABV.

Overall: Smoked beers aren't my favorite style but this is nice. Pretty much nails everything the style should have. This is apparently the beefed up version of their regular Märzen and you can tell. I would've liked to taste more of the characteristics from the Bock but otherwise, good shit!

Tjära, rökig, chark, inte särskilt söt men lite torkad frukt. Smak: tjära, cigarettrök, lite chark, väldigt rökig! Kan nog vara för mycket rök till och med för mig.

Charcuteries, tar, leather. Malty sweet taste that pretty quickly is rounded of by the smokiness. Unfortunately there is quite some metal in the taste as well

delicious and unique, truly a smokey beer that i would hesitate to pair with something smokey due to its purely smoked facade. all this talk about smokiness declines an opportunity to mention its sweet mellow dark palette with a mild bitterness that offsets the whole thing perfectly. it is in good company with infamously good german dunkel's but surely stands out in a crowd with - you guessed it - its smokiness. pair it with something salty and rich, and perhaps a mischievous evening to follow suit.

Mahognay colored, medium sized beige head. Aromas of smoked meat, ash, peat and tar. Taste of smoked meat, tar, peat and malt.

500ml bottle from Systembolaget. Very dark with hints of ruby, dense and long lasting tanned head, rich lacing. Looks great! Deep leather and smoky aroma, camp fire, caramel and some meat and ham in there but most about oily leather. Rounded and silky mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Taste follows the aroma, deep leather, smoke and sweet caramel. Long pleasant smoky and sweet finish.
